I use Windows 10 on my home PC. But in the past when I had my own web servers I would run Linux. I use to know how to secure a web server and compile new kernels with grec security, firewalls, etc. But it's been about 4 years since I owned my last server. I am sure I could probably still secure a web server if I needed to.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 during the free upgrade period. I'm surprised Microsoft still charges for Windows. I wouldn't of upgraded if I had to pay. If the next upgrade isn't free either I won't upgrade for a long time. I think I've just gotten used to Mac's/Androids/iOS being free software upgrades so I feel weird pay for something I usually get for free.

I use a mix of Linux and Windows, My gaming is mostly done on windows, and I use Linux for school related stuff(cs major) My desktop typically runs double duty on Linux and windows, while my laptop runs Linux all the time.

I am using the Linux on Virtual box. I am using Elementary OS by the way. It is one of the good games out there. As you can see that some of the Linux distro are pretty heavy but Elementary for me is good enough. Which linux distro you're using for the school stuff? Also have you worked with Wine for running windows games?

Actually the next updates you get from Windows 10 will be all free. They decided they would release a next Windows OS so it's all updates from here on out. I remember them calling it "Windows as a Service" so they now treat the OS as a service which would mean there will be no Windows 11 after this.

I was using Windows 8.1 but I have to install Windows 8 back. I did this because some games will not run on my system with that 8.1.

I am thinking of upgrading to window 10, but I just don't know if I will like it eventually. Actually my main concern is the applications I run, I am not sure if they will run on window 10. With respect to the challenges I have with window 8.1. And also the bugs I hope the get fixed.

I don't see much problems with the compatibility of the applications, only a lot of problems with bugs or application who wont work in the store, only for that i don't respect this os, but in comparation with the Windows 8.1 is better, upgrade and say me you experience.

Windows, i've seen linux before. most of my friends use it and most of them are coders, i didn't quite get the OS but from their perspective , their OS is a god. for me i don't want to complicate things so i chose Windows. From what i know ( correct me if i'm wrong) Linux is invulnerable against virus which makes the OS Good. But Windows is for dummies like me. I prefer simplicity and easy to use OS.

I'm currently on Windows 10, after upgrading from Windows 8. Definitely worth the upgrade, I really couldn't stand the Metro graphics. I've been thinking about making the switch to Linux for quite some time, though, but I'll wait until this PC gets unbearably slow to go. It will take some more time, fortunately.

Linux or Window's?
I use Mac OS X running Sierra and for the most part Mac has come along way with it's compatibility as far as running PC games, it was a struggle back in the day and PC was a much better choice for gaming.

I am currently using Windows 10. I was previously using Windows 8. So far I am enjoying the Windows 10 experience. It seems to be faster and the interface is like that of a tablet. I find it easy to use too.

I have been using windows 7 for five years now and I have grown attached to this and I am too comfortable with this so I have never thought of upgrading to latest versions. I have used windows 8 on my friend's laptop but so far this is the best. The user interface of the latest versions feels a bit complicated to use for me. I am happy with windows 7 for now. :)

I've always been a Windows fan, had Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10. The last one is interesting but i don't really like the number of updates i have to do weekly.

I only ever use Windows since I have the impression that gaming is limited in other consoles compared to Windows. I can't imagine how difficult it would be for me if I was using Linux, and a game that I would have loved to play comes out only on Windows. I always consider gaming capabilities when it comes to choosing what operating system to install or even what version of Windows I should use.
