Renting games before buying?

I have rented plenty of games before I buy them. Because if I am unsure of a game I want to try it before I buy it. And a lot of times I end up not liking the game and I am so glad that I rented it first. Because I don't have $60 to throw away on a game that I am never going to play.

I haven't tried renting a game. Movies perhaps. But yeah, haven't tried it. I use the internet, look for reviews and gameplays. If I find it nice, then I'd buy it. Reviews are the best for me. You can really tell by the way they give their opinion about the game. So by then you can come to a conclusion if you should get the game or not.

I have never tried by renting a game before buying it. I think mostly because I only buy games I am really sure about. So far, trying the demo and reading some reviews have been enought to not having regrets about any game I have bought. But I think it's a great idea!

The only time I've ever rented games was as a child. Remember the Blockbuster days (R.I.P.)? My local Blockbuster used to always have a section dedicated towards Xbox and PS2 console gaming. I used to rent old and newly released titles for about a week or so. Eventually, I would end up buying the game itself as I'd save the data to a memory card for future play anyway.

For me this doesn't sound like a great idea, I mean, I have to have my own things, if not I don't want anything. The things I do before buying anything is to read a lot of comments about the game and watch some videos. Another great option is: if you have a friend with the game that you're thinking to buy, tell him/her to let you try it a little and then you will be sure if you want to buy it or not.

Growing up, for me, they were a common sight. In fact, I had a lot of Blockbusters around me to choose from. Though only a few had gaming sections.

Unfortunately, that source got shut down and raided for their pirated games:tearsofjoy: Apparently, it was a massive operation for the selling and distribution of pirated games. This was before everything went online and people were leaking (or repackaging) entire games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Which would've made things a lot easier back in those days.

Hahaha yeah! Every once in a while one of the sellers got shur down but the next week another would take his place. Pirates video games were more common than drugs around here hahaha.

well i rent games that gamers have complained a lot about it like gears of war3 there are lots of complaint i would rent before buying it but if it is skyrim i would buy it straight away without doubt

May I ask how do you rent your games? Is it the same as downloading the trial? Or renting the actual CD? Lol.
I've never really rented a game since before.

wow I don't think I have rent a game in a reaaaaally loooong time! xD I guess those days are gone, I just rather borrow them or just watch some youtuber play it first to see if it's any good and if it's worth my time and money. Sometimes I will also read the comments online to see if it's good or not.

Right now people "rent" it by pirating the game. Basically to check if the game can run without problems on their PC (especially when you have a low end PC) They have to be honest when doing this though. If the game works and you like the game, support its developers by buying the game!

Hah, most of the people that pirate games don't end up buying the games afterwards but I know some people that torrent titles to see if it would be worth to pay the money for multiplayer access.

I don't rent games,I either buy them,play them online or get from.friends.Can't recall renting games even in my childhood days.

I used to do that some time ago, but not anymore. I had bad experiences on renting games, from very damaged ones to rent one and turned out to be a very different version. Right now I have a close group of friends and relatives, we buy different games and exchange them, so is like an inner renting between us, quality is guaranteed and is cheaper too.

There used to be a really neat gaming and media store in my hometown that offered game rentals, but I never took advantage of it. For one, I didn't have a console for very long before I switched to PC gaming, which kind of eliminated the need for me to rent games. However, even when I did play consoles, I didn't want to limited to having to play the game within a certain number of days before having to pay more money to extend a rental. I've always liked to take my games at my own pace, so I don't think renting has ever been for me. If anything, I would buy used, or buy new and then trade the game in for credit after I finished it.

before I spend money on any games, I want to check it out. I do this by burrowing it from a friend or playing the game in my friend's house. However, I have never rented a game before buying. I don't want to spend money on a game that I would not plat later. Therefore, before I spend money I have to check the game whether it is good or bad.

I've never rented a game and I never will, to be honest. I only get a few games every year, and that is mainly because I don't like too many games. I like the mainstream ones like Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield, FIFA, Far Cry etc. Other than that, I don't really buy games and I always know that those specific games will always be good because the developers are amazing. I mean, most people use reviews and gameplay videos from famous YouTubers who have been given the game before release to decide whether or not they want to buy the game. Most people trust these YouTubers enough to make a purchase based on their opinion. Can you even rent games anymore ?

I believe it is good to rent a game before buying it. Everyone need to understand that the only way to check if you like a game or not is to play it. After you play a game you can buy it! I know that there are many videos online including gameplay videos as well but its not you playing it! There is a difference between watching a gameplay video and play the actual game. So yes i have rent a lot of games specially games that i was not sure if i wanted to play! Hype exists for many video games and the only way to overcome your hype is to play the game so do not hurry to buy a game, think before your act!

Now when I think about it, I have never rented a game for a PC. It just seemed a bit unnecessary since all of the games we bought in my country were pirated anyway. But, I did rent games for SNES, since cartridges were expensive as hell.
