IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept Microsoft Research project designed to push the boundary of living room immersive entertainment by blending our virtual and physical worlds with projected visualizations. The effects in the video are rendered in real time and are captured live -- not special effects added in post processing.

I like the idea, but I wouldn't want it in my room. First off you would have to install something on your ceiling and for most who live in apartments (like myself) that will be a no go. And second my gaming area wouldn't work to double as a room screen.

And light will kill your eyes if you step out after a long period of gaming.

Yeah, This product would really one work in 1/3 of the consumers rooms. But its Microsoft and they have money to waste into projects like this.

I think this is fuc*ing brilliant.
Makes the games more immersive and not to mention the fact that being sat on your ass staring at a screen isnt very fun, the fact that the game surroundings get projected onto the walls around you make it awesome.
And the fact your in apartment is in my opinion not a bad thing.
You can still put things on the ceiling can't you? And it's not like its going to be some huge box, and it scans the room so it will be able to adapt to things.

I read a few months ago that even though this is created and such that Microsoft will not be releasing it to the public due to the price it would cost the consumer.

Shame really as it would be a great thing to have for sure, hopefully they can find a way to maybe decrease the price at a later date and make it a feature for later consoles.

I doubt the "Ideal gamer experience" will ever become a full reality. But maybe we can eventually get people off their asses and back into real life.
