Do you ever feel bad at killing someone in games?

We all kill a lot of people in game! For the plot, just for fun during a killing spree, any reason!
But there are those few times when you might feel a bit bad about killing your enemies. Maybe because the plot itself make you feel bad, or maybe because it's just a particular enemy you don't really want to kill.
For example I always have a hard time when I have to fight dogs! Poor doggos.

What about you?

For me it depends on the game and how it deals with death. I would most likely not feel guilty about killing anyone in GTA but there are certain games that make you think about the consequences of your actions like "Heavy Rain" and "Life is Strange".

In games where killing is normal, like Assassin's Creed, Hitman, GTA, Saints Row etc. I do not feel guilty about it because that's part of the game. When games give you a choice you really get stuck into thinking about the morals of doing that. I don't struggle fighting dogs because they usually attack you first and we're talking about survival after that.

I wish there's an option to befriend doggos in games. Too bad as long as they are spawned as companions of bandits, they will attack you no matter what. It's terrible, but the best I can come up with is using the Calm spell on the enemy dogs in Skyrim, get out of their detection zone before the spell expires, and then do it again if I ever have to pass that way again. But that would also mean that I will be leaving the dog in a cave where all his friends are dead, with no food to eat. It's gonna get complicated.

I remember when you had to get the Moth Priest from the cave in the Dawnguard DLC. I felt so bad for killing the dogs at the beginning, but then I remembered that my character was a ruthless Vampire that had no morales. Other than that, I sometimes feel guilty when I kill really new players in PvP games.

Well as much as i love dogs when they decide to attack me they are just another foe. No remorse there. One thing would be to hurt an innocent animal and the other would be defending myself against an attack.

I feel bad for killing characters that seem non-hostile. This is the case for me when I played Undertale. I took the path wherein there won't be anyone that gets killed.
In Grand Theft Auto games though I do not feel empathy for civilians. I do feel bad for killing characters that I grew fond of and there aren't many games like that.

Yeah, that's why I kinda hate that system in games. Once an enemy, always an enemy. No other choice but to kill. You can get random enemies to be allies, and you can't go to your destination without getting into a fight and having to needlessly kill. Kinda sucks.

Yes I do hate it sometimes when I have to kill my enemies in some games. I have a soft corner and feel sorry for those animals that I have to kill to achieve my goal. However when it comes to dragons and snakes I don't mind killing them.

I never felt bad when I have killed someone in a game. I play for competition, I wait for the challenge, so, what is the use to pity someone in a game. It is just like in a real war, you don't pity your enemy, you eliminate him.
The online games are places where we go and get out all frustration and anger from us, and I prefer to take the game to another level no matter what!

Well adds to the realism no? Most enemies in real life wouldn't be willing to make peace so easily. Which reminds me you could bribe enemy units in Civilization 2 to join you.. Such an Epic game.

I feel bad when I beat my little brother in video games, because his actually pretty good at them for his age. Although he never really beat me in any game he has gotten pretty close from time to time. Even though I feel bad from sometimes, I still have to show him who's boss and do my victory dance as he cries.

I am remorseless when it comes to killing! Lmao. Why would you feel bad if you kill someone in a game? It's called a game because it's fun to play with other people and it's virtual not real. Oh wait, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT GAMES LIKE HUNGER GAMES? >:D

No, I never feel bad about "killing" people in the game. The word makes it sound like you're really murdering someone. Killing other gamers in the game is just eliminating them and that's how the game works - usually, it's either someone eliminating you or you eliminate them.

That is a very tricky question, if I have a character that means a lot to me in the game, like my favorite warrior or second in command, and another one kills it... that means war!!! But if I have a super strong enemy or a final battle with a character to level up, then bring it on babe, because I'm going to go full action! Basically doesn't matter to kill or eliminate the other in order to improve in the game, but as long as my squad doesn't suffer so many losts too.

Yeah bribery would work. Or make them see the error of their ways. Hell, just give the doggo a treat and he'll probably be your friend. In Skyrim, people you beat near death would "surrender" and would run away or cower at a corner, but when their health regenerates high enough, they'll get right back into attack mode. I never liked that. If they surrender in battle, they should just stand there when they are healed because they know they can't beat me so they won't even try.

Great question LOL I almost feel bad saying that I have never felt about killing someone in a game. I mean... is not that a very funny part? That moment when you have to kill someone to win or move on in the game and you finally do it that feels like a victory to me haha. Even when I like the character I don't feel sorry, man! War is war.

At times I feel bad killing some AI enemies especially enemies with sad back stories like Sniper Wolf in MGS, or fighting the Boss in MGS 3 and even Zeus in God of War 3. I also felt bad when I went out to find and kill all the Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus.

When I'm playing 3rd person of first person shooters, I sometimes feel bad in killing an opponent that isn't so good at playing. At times, when I see a player with zero kills and a ton of deaths, I would usually leave them alone.

well it's all in the fun of gaming, and if killing is a part of the game then I don't feel bad when it happens but for me I don't usually play war games or fighting games that much. I play mostly sports games which requires no killing.
