Hi everyone, i'm TsuyoyRival!
Nowadays i've been playing "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter" on PC, and i'm intrigued by the game. You are supposed to be a detective, looking for this young kid, Ethan Carter, in a very strange and mysterious land. Until now i just found some crows, dead bodies, parts of dead bodies, trees, empty houses (had a weird Portal experience on one of these houses, in a small puzzle game), a graveyard...in other words, not much, however the music and the narrator guides you into places that possibly Ethan passed, and i'm experiencing this weird vibe, hoping that a suspicious person does not jumps in front of me...

A promising game, maybe someone can give me some tips! At least on how to not get scared...

Wow, the story line is nice. But the horror part is killing my appetite for the game.
Why dead body and parts of dead bodies???

I played Firewatch and it was one of the suggestions. I guess it's a mystery game with a bit of walking simulator going on? I dunno, but I think I saw ghosts in the screenshots when I looked at their Steam page. Looks great, but since I already bought both Portals, The Talos Principle, and Brothers, I really didn't want to get more puzzle games for the sale. It looked great though and had good reviews, so people should talk about it more.

I'm not sure if it's really horror, it just have a nice atmosphere. I liked the game, quite a bit too short in my opinion, but it was worth every dollar spent on it. Nice graphic, nice story and the puzzles were just at the right difficulty (I got stuck a bit with the house with all the doors you mentioned.).
I'm not sure if I understood the story completely, but the atmosphere and exploration were enough to keep me interested.

I played the game for about an hour. I found an item on the rocks. I chased an astronaut and i found a house with ghostly portals that teleported you back to the entrance. Then i closed the game and came back to it the next day and my character was at the very beginning. No save data then i played those parts over quickly and closed the game again. I opened it and it sent me back to the beginning. Any one here face the same problem like me?

I haven't played this game before but I did hear of it more than once... It was even shown on my recommended Steam games. I looked at the screenshots on Steam just now and damn, it looks pretty good. The ratings are very positive so I might give it a try! What game can you compare it to? If I understand correctly, it's sort of walking around, exploring, learning the story? Does it have combat? Or any decision making?

Thanks for pointing the game out, I had forgotten about it.

Have not played this game myself, I have seen gameplay of it on both Twitch and Youtube though, and I was like oh I should get this game, this looks interesting, well played out storyline, graphics, and unique in a way. You just reminded me here, needing new games to my library!

I totally agree with you, I think this game is very underestimated, and people should talk more about it, that's why I brought the topic. Also, i feel this game is so mysterious that I don't even know what I'm doing, that's why I wanted some tips from you guys :)

I also believe that every dollar of the game was well invested. The story seems really good and intriguing, but i would like some explanations from someone who plays the entire game.

A game that is somewhat similar is Firewatch. I don't think it has decision making, it's more of a puzzle game. They give you clues about the surroundings, and you have to figure out what it's supposed to do. I didn't play the game more because of PC problems, but when i play more i will try to remember to update the post with my final review ;)

Never heard of the game but it definitely sounds like something I should check out! How is it OP? Like how is the actual gameplay? Is it 2D or 3D? Third person or 1st person? You should make a review of the game, the title itself already got my attention and now I really feel like playing it. Does it have a co-op mode where I could play with a friend, even locally?

It's a 3D game, first person and has a solo game mode, but you can play it with a friend locally, and what I mean by this is that you two should have a great experience by the immersion of the game (but just one person moves the character). The graphics are interesting. Until now I didn't fight with anyone, but that is a possibility since I already saw some pictures online with a gun. Anyways, I will have you guys updated ;)

Without doing too much spoilers, I think the guns you saw in the pictures are just easter eggs, not a part of the main game. They are just for fun, and if I remember correctly you won't shoot even once.

Wait, you can play it with a friend? I never knew that! You just made me want to purchase it even more, haha. You said that it's similar to Firewatch and I absolutely loved that game... well except the most random ending ever. I like games where you can explore things and learn more through time.

I am going to put this game on my Steam wishlist so the next time they throw a sale I'll look for it, thank you! Keep up the review posts, they're fun to read.

Uhmm no you can't play it with a friend, I don't know why he said that. I assume he was just talking about playing with someone sitting next to you, since he said that only one person controls the character. Talking this way would mean that every game ever have a multiplayer mode!
Multiplayer have no point to exist in a game like this.

Actually, I have watched a YouTuber play the game just for a review. I would love to watch so more game play. I remember in my younger years that I would find a game, get the guide book to follow along and finish the game. Now, I realize games are way different. You have to be a part of a community to learn things about the game and join a guild. I know that I would be the weakest member of a guild so I usually don't want to waste people time. I think this game would be awesome to play. Thanks for posting.
