Where do you buy games?

Steam, Humble Store (including the Humble Bundle) and GOG are my main stores on PC (G2A looked appealing, but I don't want to risk supporting illegal trades); no point in saying that I use eShop for my Nintendo devices. Still, sometimes I like to go to Gamestop and look at the used games deals (I'll never support their policy for new games). There are lots of hidden gems that don't sell too well, and even good games for older consoles are sold at ridiculously low prices if you manage to find them.

I usually buy my games online because I can compare prices from different stores and then buy the game at the cheapest price. This is especially important when pre-ordering new games because sites tend to be more competitive to ensure they get more sales. I try to buy from well established places like Game (over here in the UK) and Amazon but occasionally I will buy from a less known site if the price is right. But I ensure that they have enough good reviews so that I don't buy from a non-operational site or get scammed.

I only really buy games from physical stores if I am buying a used game because my local game store tends to have good prices for used games that have been released for a long time.

I haven't purchased physical games in years now. Not since my PS2 died. Now I just save up my money then buy the games I have been looking out for during Steam sales, which have ridiculously low prices at discounts of even 90%. That way, I don't have to regret buying a crappy game that looked good in the trailers and in reviews; but even then, I can still ask Steam for a refund as long as the games don't have over 2 hours of playtime in them. You can't lose if you follow that system.

Still, I find a sort of dirty pleasure in looking at physical games. Seeing my collection grow and having a box to look at for my favorite games gives me a weird sense of accomplishment. I know that I could have bought many more games with the very same amount of money, but even so, I don't regret it. Maybe I'm a little too superficial about it.

I love having physical copies too. I still have the book of discs for my PS2, even after years since it died (it died at around 2010) just because I neatly organized everything. The problem I had with it was that discs wear out in time, and I have to purchase the game all over again when that happens. With Steam, I just have to remember the password and that's about it. The game is mine for all eternity.

Yeah, that's another upside, too. I've found cartridges to be less exposed to usage damages, but disks can easily get scratched (fortunately, none of my PSX/PS2 games have stopped working, but some of them sporadically glitch out).
I just love those physical PC games that provide both an installation disk and a code to redeem the digital version of the game. I mean, yeah, you're paying extra for a box and a DVD you're only going to use once or twice, but I'm personally fine with it if I really like the game (that's the superficiality I was talking about).

Either I buy the game online, which i only did once, or i would go to a store in a mall nearest my location. Ilke the feel of searchingvthe game manually from all of the other games stacked in a shelve of a store... It's like the same feeling when i want to buy cassette tapes. Nostalgia

I can't do that too long though lmao. I always feel like peeing when I'm looking through stacks of games. And it's all face value too. Judging a book (a game) by the cover art and a small description at the back. I prefer buying online on Steam since I get to do research like watching Youtube vids about it, reading reviews from fellow gamers, checking forums on what they think, etc.

Steam and Microsoft store were my prime stores. Now a days I am also looking at the Google Play and Amazon. I think amazon seems to have more money. But the amount of games on Amazon are pretty much lower. So on that point I'd say Steam has some good games out there. You can surely check that.

lmao me too, most games here are from pirated sites burned into discs for profit, but that's another topic for another day. For most of the players here they are contented with those types, but I'd rather give support to the game devs (especially the indie ones) by purchasing their games on Steam. It's easy to create a Steam account and I have a good enough internet to download the games for a few hours. Easy peazy.

If it's for my Nintendo 3DS, I buy actual copies of games from stores here. I haven't really tried buying from Nintendo's eShop since I don't feel secure with having only digital copies of the game. I am not certain if you could redownload another copy if for some reason the data gets erased.
For PC games, they don't sell copies for installers on game stores anymore so I resorted to Steam. After some purchases I figured out that Steam is the right thing for me. If you purchased a game, it will be bound to your account, making it ready anytime for download and redownloading. It's very convenient too that I could also see among my friends who is playing.

I personally prefer the game store just around my neighborhood as a friend of mine run it, but at times i just go on amazon and order what i need from them. Plus their prices are way cool some time. eBay is another great place to get really good buys too. Anyway i mostly focus on the game play and quality of the game than where i actually buy each of my game.

Hi, this depends on my mood and the money I have! I may but the games fro Steam or Amazon, or I can purchase them for free. Sometimes I even buy from a local game store that we have in our neighborhood.
But I must admit that the most games I have bought are from Steam!

It is tempting sometimes to buy upgrades for certain games, but I will stick with free things, because that seems to be the best.

You can only play so much "free" games until it becomes "pay to win" though. These game companies need to make money too, and they'll insert it in their free games via paid premiums, subscriptions, package bonuses, in-game items, skins, and even newer quests. Nothing is ever free in today's gaming world so you gotta prepare for either hitting a ceiling in the game or shelling out just to get over the hump.

I buy games usually on Amazon, at GameStop, or I buy them digitally off of PSN or Xbox Live. I usually go digital. It's nice to be able to redownload games if I need to.

I am not a hardcore gamer, therefore, I don't buy too much games. usually, I play free games. As long as I can enjoy it, I don't mind ads. However, when I want to buy a game, I don't buy online. I buy from a front store instead.

I use to buy almost all of my games at Gamestop. But I always end up trading them in on new game and I never had any old games. So I started buying my games on the PSN store. That way I always have the games that I bought. And as far as PC goes I buy my games on Steam, Amazon and Origin.
