Does Anyone Still Play This Game

When the third game came out I played it non-stop. I was so happy to finally have Diablo back in my life after what?, a ten year absence? I wasn't thrilled with the story, but then again I never really am. The game play however was perfected. Between the gem system, how precise the skills were and the insane amount of loot. I instantly fell in love.

After about a year though the number of players on at any given time seemed to dip dramatically. What happened here? Are any of you still playing?

I haven't played in at least a year. I pre-ordered reaper of souls, I was so pumped for the expansion. I never even really found a group to consistently play with or anything. I just did a lot of solo stuff, tried a lot of builds, etc. I could never farm fast enough, so it wasn't that fun for me. Haven't played in quite some time, and honestly I probably won't be playing it ever again unless I have a group of friends that suddenly get really interested in it lol.

I didn't care for Diablo 3, but I didn't try the expansion. I've heard that they've improved on a lot since the original launched. I just remember not being able to log in for like 3 days when the game originally launched. I think the highest I got a character was only level 15. Haven't played since 2012. I had a ton of fun with Torchlight 2 though which is pretty similar... I might try Diablo 3 again down the line... If the expansion is dirt cheap and I have some people to play with.

I think the expansion is like $20 now and from what I've seen the game has improved ten fold since it's original run.

Blizzard is still supporting it, which is pretty surprising. I'm liking the new seasonal content and I really am still enjoying the game (though I bought late, way after that paid-money auction house garbo). It's just so colorful and fun and fluid, I really do enjoy the dumb fun of it all. Really high-level play -- making builds and doing statistical analysis and all that -- is just a bit boring for me. I just like clicking the left mouse button and seeing the nice colors.

The only qualms I have that prevents me to enjoy the legend of Hack n' Slash are related to its Loot system. In order to make an optimal defined character with a specific item build, you need first to play the game with some boring class with far less demanding itemization such as a Summoner or some one-trick pony AoE spammer that only need to increase a stat to be competent. These easy builds will allow you to farm the items you need for the desired class build. After all these ordeals and several hours of farming, you will be ready to play the game with your planned character and optimal gear for it.

I actually just played Diablo 2 and the Expansion a few weeks ago. All hardcore characters as I never finished one as a kid. I finished a summonmancer build, although it got a little boring in Hell Difficulty because the summons were reduced to dealing out 25% of their total damage, which made defeating the enemies more of a chore rather than a challenge, since I have to keep casting the curses while my minions chew away the massive health points of the enemies. All in all, it was pretty fun, and I can take "finish hardcore mode" off my to-do list.

It's a single player game since I still have the old Diablo 2 triple discs I had when I was a kid. I found a bunch of old CDs in a box when I was cleaning up my old room, and it still had Civ 3, Red Alert 2, Age of Mythology, and Rise of Nations. It was a pretty nostalgic feeling and all I had to do was adjust the compatibility in my PC, and the games ran smoothly afterwards.

I have the game, I actually got it last summer and I was struck by the lack of active players. I remember diablo 2 maintaining a decent player community for years after its release and I wouldn't be surprised if there is still a decent sized community still playing it... is there? As for Diablo 3, it seems as if it's dead, I don't play it anymore because I couldn't find people to play with often enough.

I have played every single Diablo and I still love the oldies but I haven't really played any of the Diablos in about a year and a half as there are many better choices in games these last couple of years. I still have to check out the expansion it seems you all think that would be a good idea before I totally give up on Diablo. First I have to finish everything I'm playing now but soon i'll get the expansion!

There's still a dedicated server here and there for online Diablo 2 if you look hard enough. Forums and sites dedicated to old games still have private servers so their members can play, which I think is really great. Too bad the sands of time have really eroded the core fans of these games, as they were amazingly well done and incredibly popular during their heyday.

What I guess is that many people got bored of this game PingPongCall. I've been playing until I complete the season journey. I don't have the patience to farm thousands of Grifts; it was enough to finish all the chapters and get the portraits. Ended up around Paragon 561 without really much grinding.
That was all; I haven't played since then!

I just got the game recently for $18 including the reapers expansion. I've been enjoying the game so far. I think they really improved the inventory/loot system. I've been playing solo this whole time so maybe I should try playing online with others to see how it really compares to Diablo II.

Wow, I still remember playing Diablo 2 back in the days. It's very similar to Nox, in my opinion. If you've never playes Nox, you should check it out -- strangely, I have more vivid memories playing Nox than Diablo 2. Thanks for the heads up, I should check out Diablo 3 soon.

I didn't play much of Diablo 3 as I thought the PvP was just too imbalanced. I do play Diablo 1 from time to time using my PlayStation emulator on my phone, and I play it casually. It's still pretty good for me, lots of nostalgia. The controls are a lot clunkier compared to the sequels of course, but for me, that was just added challenge to make the game more challenging and enjoyable.

Absolutely! I feel that this game has not lost it's team as of yet because there is still a very large community base! I love playing at more on PC than on consoles myself, so that could be a deciding factor on how many people still play the game.
What I really like about Diablo though, is that blizzard is always coming out with new updates and content that is free of charge for the most part!
So that being said I absolutely think that there is room for new players and I will still be one of them!

I hadn't played Diablo III for long enough a time to say about it, only until level 10 of my character and suddenly I lost all of my interest in it. Then I quitted, it has been quite some time, such a shame considering I was one big fanboy of Diablo II, have been playing it since 2004, the first time I was introduced to gaming, and until now I will open it and marathon throughout every once in a while, trying to find anything that I haven't discovered and even though I haven't found anything that I don't know yet, it has always been fun.

I lost interest in Diablo 3 as I felt that it was no longer fun for me. I prefer to play MOBAs with my friends. As for solo games, I prefer to chill with Minecraft or even other strategy games.
