My apologies if this is the wrong section for this topic, I'm a bit confused.

Are there any Civ players here? I got the game during a Steam holiday sale, have played a little but not much. Wouldn't mind finding some people to play with!

I don't play very much either, but I certainly wouldn't mind having a casual match or teaming up some time.

Not a huge fan of it personally, but I do enjoy the occasional 10-hour game with a bunch of my friends some nights :pompous:

I have been playing Civilization for several years. I do have Civilization 5, however it is not my favorite. I prefer the fourth edition of the game. I have issues with the graphics and combat. I feel certain elements of the game are under/overpowered.

Me. Like sapett, I've been playing Civ V for several years. But it wasn't until a few months ago that I officially purchased on Steam (yes, I pirated the game). As of right now, I have 59 hours on record, but that's mostly because I don't really have anyone to play with. The people I used to play with are players of fast-paced games such as Left 4 Dead 2, so Civ V comes off as incredibly boring for them. It's understandable, but also frustrating because we never finished a game. They promised that we would one day, but that never happened.

I have played Civ for a couple years now. I usually play with my friends but they are getting a bit tired of it, so I wouldn't mind playing with someone else. I rarely finish games because they take so long, so even though I have about 50 hours in the game I have only completely finished two games. I'm okay at it but not super great. PM me if you want to play and we can add each other on Steam.

Civilization V is the first one I've ever played and it's probably one of my favorite games of all time. I never know whats going on and I don't know if there is some set path on which you should develop things but I always have so much fun playing that I just don't care.

I really want to play the recent one that's set in space, it look's amazing. I've never actually met another person that plays this game, so I'm very happy to see so much activity on this thread.

Civ 5 is also my first title that I played from the series! It's not that interesting without the DLCs in my opinion, maybe because I mostly play the scenario-based single player modes instead of playing the PVP modes. There were some mechanics that I'm not too fond of, and late game phases are a bit too demanding for my laptop, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with this game. I saw that they've released (or going to release?) Civ 6 recently, I'm planning to get a copy when the prices have calmed down a bit.

Well I am a little surprised at how many people it seems are just now starting to play or learn about the series. This has been one of my favorites for some time now, and I am very much looking forward to the new one that is set to come out here pretty soon. It is probably the one game that I truly get into that mode where I lose track of time. It is a good one, and I am glad others are noticing.

Hello there, it's nice to find some more Civilization enthusiasts around here.
Well, as you may already know, Civ V is basically the best game of the Civilization series, it's actually the most played and the one with the best game mechanics, graphics, gameplay, and whatnot; it's simply the best game around.
You could add me on steam when you get some free time, or whoever that would like to have a good time playing some matches just hit me up "Arly2298", will be a pleasure to play with you guys.

I have 300 hours clocked into this because I was hyped for the release of Civ 6. I last played Civ 3 as a kid, so when I heard Civ 6 was coming up, I got the 5th one to practice. I found Civ 5 pretty similar in gameplay and atmosphere with Civ 3, but Civ 6 was a massive disappointment for me. I'd rather play Civ 5 rather than 6, and I had to ask for a refund for 6 an hour after playing, because I honestly felt like it has strayed away from what Civilization games are all about.

I agree, even with Civilization 6 out, I still prefer Civilization 5 because of the game concepts and the similarities it has over Civ 3, my first Civ game; if not first strategy game, of all time. Civ 6 looked more like a mobile game app, and it really looked like a joke compared to its predecessors, even if it has the better graphics in comparison. I'd rather play Civ 5 any day over Civ 6.

I have Civ 5! I suck at it though. My friend was is a Civ veteran always attacks me and I never see it coming. I'm always trying to build towards nuclear weapons or at least planes. When he hits me before that, I get wrecked. I would love to try Civ 6 soon though!

I got CIV 5 with all the dlc a little while ago and have quite a lot of hours put in. I really like the strategy aspect of the game and figuring out ways to destroy opponents. Don't play on a very high difficulty though, as I am not that good.

I spent few hours of my weekend off on this game. Though Civ 5 is fun with the friends. There are some nice matchups that you can do with the online players too. I think depending on your liking it can be fun or downright boring. I played with friends and the pacing we picked up was good so overall it was good experience.

It's not as exciting as a real time strategy like Red Alert 2 but it still has its good aspects. You can easily lose 5 hours into the game and you'd still be halfway done. It does get faster paced by the modern era since everyone would just bust out their weapons and tanks all over the map for territory control. But still, I find it more fun than the newest Civ game since it strayed really far from what made the franchise great.

I'm a fan of Civilization games. I am playing Civ 6 currently. It's a really great game but Civ 5 is better if you consider full DLCs. I hope they roll out more stuff for Civ 6 to keep me invested in the game.

I didn't like 6. I preordered it and played it immediately after the game unlocked on Steam. It was at midnight. I played an hour, then asked for a refund. I'm playing 5 again right now. 6 was such a disappointment for me I didn't even think twice about getting the refund; I'd rather move fast than have buyer's remorse on a game I don't like. I spent the refund money on other games, and I honestly feel like I made the right choice.

I'm always behind in Civ games, lol. I played 2 for sooooo long, and for whatever reason I never started playing 3. Now 6 is out but I'm still playing 4 :tearsofjoy: I've tried playing 5 a few times but I can't seem to get used to the differences. There are some things that just feel more intuitive in 4 than 5.

Your post makes me not want to bother trying 6, at least not until it goes on sale :/
