Tablet sales may be soaring nowadays, but when it comes to playing games or working, you still can't beat a good 'ol PC (personal or desk computer) combined with one or more large screens.

While most mainstream computer manufacturers and even boutique assemblers opt for lackluster cases that look no more interesting than the cardboard boxes they are delivered in, some companies try to push the design envelope creating pieces of art. The BMW Group's DesignworksUSA is one such example.

Having already ventured in the world of computers and computer accessories with designs like the Thermaltake Level 10 Mouse, Siragon all-in-one PC, and the Level 10 PC Case, DesignworksUSA partnered with Taiwan-based ASRock, a manufacturer of motherboards, industrial PCs and home theater PCs, to produce the M8 compact PC.

The beautifully designed case is made to work either standing up or lying down, and, according to the company, "look good from any perspective". BMW's design division says the side panels are magnetic and can be removed for quick access to the interior, while another highlight is the multi-functional control knob with an integrated OLED display that shows an array of information such as status of usage and heat, date and time and also allows adjusting the volume and the fans inside the tower.
