I enjoyed BL:TPS. I think people's expectations for the game were way too high though, because it got bashed on by people for many reasons. I still enjoy the game as well as Borderlands 2 equally.

Mass Effect and Freelancer. ME is my all time favorite but Freelancer is great as well. I spent a lot of hours playing these games, and would spend even more. I wish they make a Freelancer remaster or something, that would be awesome.

Star control 2 is one of the greatest space adventure of all time with fun combat to boot. For me it would be on my list, along with wing commander and free space 2.

There are lot of Space games for PC which you can play like Star Conflict where basically you clash with asteroids. I love this game and the space warships are really amazing. There are more space games you should try like Stellaris and Endless space 2, they are good strategy space games which I think you are gonna love. I do recommend you as a gamer to try those above mentioned games and trust me they are super cool.

You could try out "Warframe", it's a free third person shooter game I downloaded the other day. This game can be played in single player mode aswell as multiplayer mode online. The setting is in outer space where you have just woke up from thousands of years of cryosleep. As a member of "Tenno" an ancient warrior race you are bound to fight against evil human clones called "Grineer" for example. It seemed pretty cool, but have not really gotten in to it yet.

it's Mass Effect series for me, the story is so amazing you really feel the characters around you, and the game ending of me3 is the best you made some crazy choices. There's a new game called star citizen its an rpg i think, it have awesome space figths.

I'm with you there. Freelancer was so awesome to play, definitely one of the most fun space sims I've ever played. I guess its legacy has been carried on by a plethora of similar games nowadays, though. I mean, just look at Star Citizen and how huge it's shaping up to be (it's incredible it's still in development).

Another personal favourite of mine is Star Fox 64. Sure, it's an arcade shooter and far from being a space sim, but I still loved its setting.
