This is a pretender to the throne of the hard disk drive or HDD. The SSD is another type of data storage but unlike the HDD, the SSD has no motor, no moving parts just like the SD card that you use in your phone and digital camera. The downside right now is the cost because it is about 50% more expensive than the hard disk of the same capacity. But another issue I am raising is the reliability. It is not yet tested by time like the HDD which is with us for decades already. I hope someone would post on the reliability issue of the SSD.
