Playstation 3

Hi everyone, I'm here to ask your opinion about my old Playstation 3.
It gave me amazing moments, where I played Assassin's Creed, God of War and Heavy Rain. About 2 years ago, the console just wouldn't turn on, a black screen always showed up, and there was these yellow light on the console stood still.

What could possibly be the problem, just for curiosity purposes?

The infamous YLOD aka the Yellow Light of Death.

Had this happen to me about a year or two after I bought the console (in like '07 or '08), but I do remember the fix being hella expensive. Almost like half the money for a new console or something.
