Everything depends on what game you're playing, so if you really want to be good at something, then practice that game, for PC gaming invest in a good mouse and keyboard as it will significantly improve your gaming experience, and just have fun.

If we're talking about software specific tips and tricks (as in for the games themselves), it's kind of hard to give general advice. Most tips and tricks are going to be pretty video game specific.

I guess one thing that comes to mind is actually pay attention to the tutorials. You have so many people who skip tutorials, thinking that they have enough gaming experience to not need them.

I can't tell you how many times I've regretted skipping tutorials. Figuring out the controls and game mechanics for yourself can be such a mess, and that is exactly why tutorials exist in the first place.

For new gamers I would have to suggest to always have some drinks around when you're playing and don't play more than 8 hours of straight game play.
