Has anyone thought about programming their own game or perhaps hiring someone else to make a custom one? Has anyone done it? How much time, skill, and money were needed?

I had a pal that tried to do that while we were in the finals at the college that I attended. In as much as I was not that interested in how much it cost him to do that, I noticed that he was keen to do that at that point in time. Will try to get across to him on whether it was a success at the end.

Nope, that would be a waste of time and effort because creating a modern game from scratch isn't really feasible for a single person, and creating a simple game won't have any sense because there's a lot of old simple games out in the market that you can get for free.

Haven't even thought about it because the amount of time and money it will take to make even the worst game you can think of is a lot, how much more for those popular names which took a big gaming company years before they are even released, and even then there can be problems with bugs, gameplay, and story.
