Pre-Order vs Rental?

Are you more of a pre-order person, where you order the games well in advance because you know deep down the game is going to be good as well as for the bonus content, or are you more of a rental person, playing it safe by renting the game before making a judgment on the quality of it?

Rental games are going out of business so quick in the United States..... like only 1/10 grocery stores have the Redbox machines that let you rent, and half the time the games are out of stock because someone bought a temporary gift card and rented the game to never return it!

Pre-ordering is also a no go if you haven't at least tried a beta or alpha version.

Unfortunately, renting is no longer popular where I live. Before buying a particular game, I usually read the reviews and ask my friends for their recommendations. I don't usually pre-order games as I had some bad experience in the past. Most of the times I wait for the game to be on the market then I buy it.

For being cost effective, I always go with the option of renting games for I feel that it is much more better for me than having to pre-order games which is quite expensive. What makes me rent games is not because I doubt the exciting nature of the game in question, but as a result of the fact that it is a better option for me instead of having to pre-order. Also, I have seen some hypes on new games die off as a result of not delivering on promises and a result, those who pre-ordered ends up losing money.

Well, I do both pre-order and rental of games but the one I do at a particular point in time is dependent on the kind of game I was looking at playing at the time. If it's a game I have a good knowledge about and have actually craved playing it for a while, then it's pre-order that I would be going with but once it's an average game, renting seems to be more convenient and appropriate thing for me to do with the game.

Rental looks more wise for me because it's cheaper and it removes the option of getting bored with playing a particular game over and over again because you have it pre-ordered. But when it comes to renting, you get to play lots of games as you pleases and never get a diminishing return as you would have to return the game over a certain period of time.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with pre-ordering games, as long as you can afford it, everything is cool and when you probably get tired of the said game in question, I would suggest giving it out and still getting a new one.

I would simply go with the option of rental whether it is a game that I have good knowledge of or one that I am getting to understand as well. The aim is to play games that are really nice and returning it to pick another one to have more gaming experience. Moreover, nothing can beat the reduction on cost of just renting a game instead of having to pre-order it from the stores.

I don't really like either since I rather own something that I know is good, so I usually wait a while before buying the game I'm interested in just to see if there are no bugs, the gameplay is really good, and it's worth my money.

We really don't have rentals here in my country, well I guess some may still have but in the provinces far from the metro. Preordering games is also not a norm here. Basically you just buy a game you like in the mall or in gaming stores which are all located in the mall.
