Lately, I've been in a bit of a gaming funk. I can't remember the last time that I truly enjoyed a video game. Nothing seems to hold my attention. I'm finding more pleasure in playing small-biz video games, such as "Emily is Away, too." This is a weird experience for me because I generally love to play video games and I get fairly glued to the screen.

Is anyone else going through a weird funk in the video game world? Have you found anything interesting lately?
It's totally normal to have these ebbs and flows to our interests. You can only walk through the same door so many times before you're no longer surprised by what you see on the other side. Maybe it's just time for you to invest in a different hobby. Take a generation off and have a different kind of fun. I did that at the end of the PS3/Xbox360 generation. I only just got back into gaming and I'm loving what's out there right now, especially on the Switch. I just got Sonic Mania tonight and I'm in (hedge)hog heaven.

I think this kind of phase is common to every gamer. There are times when nothing interests us. None of the games appears engrossing and exciting. During such a period I prefer to take a break from gaming. I divert my attention for a few days and then restart palying video games. This helps to rekindle the gaming spark.

I would agree with you on this one TS. Lately, I've been losing interest playing my favorite games. It's like I don't enjoy them anymore because of the updates or how the community is going but I know those shouldn't be the reason to lose interest, because if you are a true gamer, none of those can stop you from playing. So yeah, maybe I got rusted now. x.x

I think that maybe all gamers go through stages like this? There are times in my life when I would game nonstop, and then, for whatever reason, wake up one day and just not feel like it for months. Right now, I am traveling and am in New York City, and this place is so stimulating that gaming has not really evened occurred to me, and the friend I am staying with has tons of games and different consoles. I guess it just depends on my lifestyle at the time, but I do not really consider it a "funk".
Gaming is a part of our life. It is not the whole thing. We play games to keep our tension off. It is not mandatory to play all the time. We play it because of fun and entertainment it gives us.After busy in our daily professional work, we get little time to play.It is our priority to play or not play.

Whenever I deside to buy or just play a new game I read first reviews and genre to make sure that it interests me and No I never loose interests in video games, As long as I am playing a video game I choosed myself then how can I get bored I'll always be busy exploring it anf look forward to the next level so in short it never happened to me.

I think it's realistic to need a break from anything, even if you really love doing it. Taking some time to explore other hobbies can be helpful, in addition to just spending some time by yourself / with other people, whichever you generally don't do as much. If you are truly just looking for new games to play, maybe try a genre that you've never tried before! Best case scenario, you find something new to explore.

We must all learn to moderate, I think, and too much of anything, even a good thing, can be unhealthy for us. There are so many different forms of leisure and fun, and gaming, of course, is just one of them. I like to alternate my fun activities with different times and different friends and occasions. We have hosted gaming parties at my house, and we have also hosted bar-be-cues and ping pong parties. it just depends on what you are in the mood for at the time. i like to game by myself, and it definitely entertains me and helps me to forget the problems of my every day work life.

Right now I'm also on one of those "down" times you describe, but I've grown used to them because it's not the first time it happens to me.

I think gaming is not a perpetual interest that retains the same level of investment across time. You have ups and downs and it all relates to your interest in the games that are out or upcoming, perhaps your personal life, and many other issues. It doesn't mean it'll last forever, it's just a small phase that you'll, probably, get out of once the circumstances change.

At least that's what happens to me. Usually I see a future release that I dig and suddenly my interest returns with a vengeance.

Eh, sometimes I feel like that, normally when I haven't been up-to-date with game releases. But lately, since I discovered and completed Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, I felt like I've never played a game as gripping as that before! I used to rush home from school as quick as I could for the new Call of Duty releases, but I'm not quite the same anymore.I am still heavily interested in gaming though and I don't believe that will change.

I feel the same. I want to jump into another round of Skyrim or Witcher 3, but the immensity of the games leave me bored and out of motivation to start the story all over again. I want to really play, but thinking about all the things you have to do early game, all the quests, all the mandatory storylines, all the exploration; it's not as motivating and inviting as before.

I always get burned out a little at the end of summer. School's starting back up now though so I'm busy doing other things now.

It's funny how when you have all the time in the world, thos ethings which interest you grow old and boring. Then when you have real business to take care of all you're thinking is "Oh I wish I had the extra time. I'd do this and that and this and the other things and I'd never complain!". That's the way my mind works anyway.

I feel you, in the past I'm just like you, more of a video game addict you doesn't want to stand up on his chair and the kind of son who doesn't want to do chores instead morel likely to be yelled by his mother. I feel like the reason why people gets boring on a thing is they change like they feel a sudden change that they need to, like when you feel like growing and don't want to be that dude who's playing a video games in the age of 50. And that's the reason why I did stop being an addict on playing video games because of being a grown up and thinking of having a money for my future.

I think a lot of people go thru phases with hobbies. For instance, a guitar player might play a lot for a season and then totally avoid it another. However, though, some people say it's a good idea to take a break from a hobby because you come back refreshed. In that case, what you do becomes more enjoyable and maybe better.

The thing I would have to say about losing interest in playing any video is simply when we try to understand that the reason some things may happen might be as a result of the fact that the responsibility we have got at home is quite bigger than the drive to play the game. Just take for instance a situation where a young lad playing games ends up getting married, you will get to realize that the drive to build up his young family will take precedence to whatever he does with gaming.

I feel you, this exact same thing happens to me every now and then. I feel that sometimes we just lose interest in what we love regardless, or maybe I should say that out interest changes subjects, so we do something else instead for a while. But so far I have always come back to gaming after few weeks / months, usually when I find something new and interesting to keep myself entertained.

Just don't force it - take a break for a while, and you'll find the joy of gaming again on a later date!

Welcome to the world of getting old mate and with lots of responsibilities looking straight at your face. It's the only thing that takes away my gaming interests because those responsibilities are going to take care of themselves by my giving a lot of my focus and attention to gaming.

When I was still a little bit younger, gaming took a very good portion of my time because I have less things to worry about but now, everything is practically different and I simply cannot help it.

I haven't started losing interest in the games that I play currently, in fact I'm still enjoying them like it's just yesterday which I started playing because it's still 100% fun to me playing these games. I think that too much commitment in other things is actually what's making you lose interest in playing some particular games and favor playing some.

There is this new game that I got introduced to recently, it's Game of Thrones Conquest. I find it very interesting, so maybe since you are looking for something new and interesting to get involved with, I think you should try out the game.
