Hi all, I've been producing music for the last couple of years, haven't really touched it this year so much as I've been so busy with university and work.

I go by the name CLR when it comes to producing and I'd appreciate it if some of you would give me some feedback on my tracks? Thank youuuuu.

CLR - Rising: (this is the one I need most feedback on): https://soundcloud.com/connor-rugman/clr-rising

The Chainsmokers - Don't Let Me Down (Julia Westlin & David MeShow Cover) (CLR Remix): https://soundcloud.com/connor-rugma...wn-julia-westlin-david-meshow-cover-clr-remix

CLR - Words are Worthless (ft. GadManDubs): https://soundcloud.com/connor-rugman/words-are-worthless-ft-gadmandubs

CLR - Out Of Control (ft. JacVanBee): https://soundcloud.com/connor-rugman/connor-rugman-out-of-control-ft-jacvanbee

CLR - Beyond: https://soundcloud.com/connor-rugman/beyond

Thanks all :)

Also could I use these for clips I get in Csgo / Overwatch?

Also your style is sorta like Koda.

Sorry man I am not saying your music sucks but I do not like this form of "music", anything made on a computer I do not consider actual music. It lacks effort, soul and talent. There is more to music than notes and sounds.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. But this is still 'music'. All notes, melodies and sounds are made by myself, from scratch, so how is that any different than me jumping on a guitar and writing music that way? When I use piano and guitar melodies on my songs, I use actual instruments and I spend weeks on certain songs layering everything together.

Damn, those are actually pretty good. To be honest, when I saw soundcloud links I was thinking they were just going to be "one of those soundclound songs" but your music is actually really good and enjoyable to listen to.

Not particularly genre's I am a fan of at the moment. Dubstep has or really seems like it's died down since like 2013-2014. Otherwise it's an evolving genre and growing with people like you creating more and switching up the styles of it. Even though I don't see dubstep staying in popularity, a genre I would suggest even switching around and trying out is stuff like Synthwave and Chillwave music. A lot of it seems to be becoming very popular.

As for your songs some I liked and some I didn't like.
I don't feel like picking apart each one but rather just generalize it. The rap and dubstep mix, to me, really kills the rap. When you listen to rap you mostly wanna hear the lyrics and such but with the bass drops and such in the dubstep it makes it challenging to hear the lyrics at times. You could try to increase vocals and turn down the bass, treble etc.

The dubstep was unique at certain points and rather generic. Which both is fine for dubstep as a genre unless you wish to be more progressive.

I think my favorite song was Rising. I liked the ambience of the song and it's subtle middle. But the only thing is that parts of it seemed like it's copy and pasted and just replayed. I would like to see some variation later on in the song.

Otherwise, keep doing whatever makes you happy when it comes to music. Don't let Scotty's rather discouraging comments make you switch up on anything. Music is and always will be subjective.

I have to agree with a lot of people here on basis that it is GREAT songs in that genre (but for me personally I prefer more hip hop and pop style EDM music like Trap)

Music is music, regardless of how it is made. I would honestly consider this great like chill music to listen to. Beats in the first one I like a lot at the beginning.

If you either boosted BPM to like 140ish+ then gave it maybe some drums and hi hats and some more "life" into it I'd probably be pretty contempt to add it to my soundcloud playlist.

Anyways keep up great work brudda.

Edit: Listened to your Chainsmokers remix and that was nice

Thanks for the feedback my man. I'm always open to criticism and feedback so that's helped a lot. Most of these songs are a year or so old, back when I first started and I've only just gotten back into it, trying to come up with new melodies, better layering with instruments and other techniques so it's a pretty steep learning curve for me so far.

With the dubstep, I agree completely myself, I went for more of a chill/ambient kind which is why it's fairly repetitive but i'll only know what to improve on if people criticize it! I quite like chilled and ambient melodies which is why I mixed it up a bit on Rising, back when I made it I just couldn't get certain instruments and effects to mix with it very well, mostly down to the lack of knowledge when it came to it but again, thanks for the feedback, man.

Thanks fam! Trap is probably one of my top genres that I like listening to, constantly playing it in the car but I've found that when I tried making trap, I wasn't that creative when adding all of the elements that make the genre what it is. It's something I'd like to focus on a lot, especially seeing as it's so big right now and I enjoy listening to it so much, though!

I'll keep you all updated with production as such so I can get more opinions on what to focus on etc.

FL Studio is mad good, if you wanna change you can try Ableton too.
I tried to get used to it but no luck as I haven't had time to properly learn it :(

I just want to point out that, I am more into Classic Rock and Progressive Rock, so I am not the best person to judge this style of music, but like Sag said music is subjective.

Ya but Remixing is popular (take for the example the Chainsmokers song Hux did).

So realistically you can combine your favorite songs and reclassify them in different genres.
