It's easy to discuss what's your favorite console, but what is the most forgettable one?

We all know there have been commercial failures like the Wii U, and we are aware of the tragic fate of the mess known as Virtual Boy, but in your opinion what was the worst console released, or the console that despite popularity never really appealed to you?

They can be popular or obscure, it all depends on your personal opinion.

This is not that hard to say, the most forgettable console from my point of view is the Nintendo, Virtual Boy that was certainly one of the most unpleasant to play for any meaningful length of time. I think that Wii U, come next as a catastrophic commercial failure.

I agree bro. Nintendo focused on their classics intead of moving on to fight for new markets like Sony and Microsoft did. They still refuse to accept that gaming is not only for children anymore.

I'm going for the Sega Saturn. When the console came out, almost no one purchased the system because they were all waiting for Sony's Playstation. With the rise of Sony, Sega was left in the dust. It did not get enough third party support because for game developers, it was a hard system to grasp. The lack of support lead to a shortage of quality games which was the beginning of the end for Sega.

It's a shame that developers did not take the time to study the system since I believe that they could have created awesome games for it. I've heard news before that they were able to make Shenmue on the Saturn. That's awesome!

Didn't Playstation release a Vita or something a few years ago? Haven't heard from it since one peep of it in the news because of the release. Never tried it, never seen games advertise on being on it, and basically I've never really seen anything that resembles any sort of advertising for that particular console. It's like Playstation's weird cousin or something where they just pretend that it doesn't exist.

I know I may get shot for this by some but for me the console that has been the least favorite for me is the Sega Genesis! I can find some value for having any of the Nintendo, Xbox or PlayStation consoles. I also say this without having had any experience with Dreamcast.

I'll go with the Game Boy Micro. I've only recently discovered its existance, and it sounds like one of the most unnecessary consoles of all time (who needs and even smaller version of an already portable console? The SP model was already out by then). Plus, it was released a single year before the Nintendo DS came to be. As icing on the cake, unlike the original Game Boy Advance and the SP model, it didn't have compatibility with GB/GBC games. Aside from "forgettable", the second adjective to come to mind is "unremarkable".

Actually I hear that its much more popular in Japan- but thats without looking into it.
Anyways back to the original question I've never played a forgettable console (the wii u has xenoblade chronicles x- 200 hours and still not done Id hardly consider that forgettable) and even the Gamecube's quirks remind me of its existence, but the one gaming system I always forget about is the GBA. The original backlight-less unit I struggle to remember iteven existed lol. Outside of pokemon and mario kart I cant remember a single game I played on it.

Funny that you guys mention these, because my last favorite console ever is easily the PSP. There was just nothing of lasting fun/worth to play on it except for Final Fantasy Tactics...and that's just because I'm an SRPG nerd. I definitely have heard that there are way more PSP/PS Vita games in Japan (RPGS, visual novels--Danganronpa and Zero Escape come to mind immediately, but Zero Escape has DS/3DS ports so kind of irrelevant), but so few of those are translated and brought over. Unless you can read Japanese, of course, or are willing to play blind. Either way, it just doesn't feel worth it.

I think the WII was the most forgettable console for me. My ex~wife wanted it because all of her friends wanted it and I told her its a fad. But she didn't believe me and she just had to have it so I bought it for her. And I can count on my right hand how many times she used it. And when she did use it she played it for about 15 minutes each time and she was done with it. It was a total waste of money!
