Do you have to complete a game 100%?

Do you like to get 100% at every game? Personally, I do not start by trying to obtain everything, but if, after I have completed the game, I am bored and want something to do, then yes, I will go back and try to complete the game 100%. In some games it is different though. For example, I play every Pokemon game until I have got all of them Pokemon (except special event ones of course).
I'm just like you, man, I think that the games should be enjoyed and then you can do whatever you want, but there are games that I have to complete the 100%. I remember that the first game that I had complete was the Harry Potter 2 game in the PlayStation 1, I loved that game and I complete everything, I had all the chromes and I finished that game in 3 days, I was like 8 years old.

For me, I think this depends on the game--some games I am satisfied with playing for just a certain amount of times or levels, and then I use them as open worlds to go back to. Other games, like Gods of War, or the like, have a big payoff if you beat them, so I like to get to that point to see what happens with the storylines.

I like to complete the storyline first. That's more important to me (or to any gamer, for that matter), the story of the game itself. We always look for, 'What will unfold next?' That was how games like POP, Resident Evil, and all were build, to look forward to see what would happend next, where the story would take us, what setting, what situation.

Now coming on to achievements. Almost every hardcore gamer looks forward to complete a game cent percent. The reason: the sense of satisfaction, the sense of fulfillment, the sense of achievement, that I could also do so. That's the case with me. When I play a game I always want to complete it cent percent. Sometime I can do it on my own, while other times I have to look for guides or game forums so I could do so. But in the end, when I have done it all, it leaves me satisfied and I enter a relaxed mode, like that of a monk (Did I exaggerate too much?:androidsick: Perhaps not:androidongue:).

Completing a game is a satisfaction. Every time I played games I completed it to 100% to satisfy my desire. What things that we started should be always finished until the end. Games are boring if you didn't complete it until the end because you won't feel the satisfaction of your desire. Gaming is life so you should finish what you started.

I've only ever completed one game 100% and that was just cause 3. It took a long time but it was so satisfying when I finally completely finished it.

Being a completionist is to my detriment! Some would say is a good trait to have but not when you stop playing games until they are done! So much of my life has been sucked away! Man I'm starting to think I have a real problem! lol

It's often very hard to complete a game 100% and takes a huge amount of time so I often don't do it

If it means getting all hidden collectibles just to complete the 100% of the game, I won't bother doing so since I have many other games to play. Since in order to complete 100%, replays will be required in order to meet objective and time requirements. I see it as a very daunting task as a whole. I don't see satisfaction in it.
If it is completing the missions of the game then I would not mind.

Same here man. I don't ser why people have to be so perfectionist about everything. Let's suppose here that the tasks required to get 100% completion were actually enjoyable. I would most likely get bored and move on all the same
Some people actually have fun doing that kind of stuff and I guess it also serves as a bragging right I would think??

I used to platinum every game I could (or at least try..) but then I realized that it was actually hampering my enjoyment of the game. I ended up playing with the intention of getting the platinum, instead of trying to immerse myself in the game. I would reset if I missed a trophy, or find all the collectables even though I hated it. Why? because I had this urge to do it even though it wasn't fun. Eventually I told myself that trophies don't matter, and what's more important that I play games for fun.

I only do those challenges when I'm done with the game and I'm looking for something to keep me hooked on the game. Timed challenges are always fun if you want a new reason to play another round of the story, while doing the higher difficulties always bring the challenge of you having to master all there is to do with the game.

Indeed. And some people have fun in bragging also. The whole purpose of trophies is bragging now, isn't it? No point in implementing them if the players couldn't show others.

I remember trying to complete GTA San Andreas' 100% rating as a kid. The hardest ones were the collectibles since the game devs put those things in very hard to reach places and in twists and turns. It was painful to find, to the point where I had to get an online guide on the 100 locations because I really didn't want to look at every nook and cranny of 3 major cities and an entirely large map just to hope there's something hidden in the corner.

I used to do this when I was younger. When I finished a game and saw that it wasn't 100%, I would start a new game and make sure that I go to every nook and cranny and collect every item that need to be collected. I used to do this with certain RPGs, platform games, and adventure games. Like Crash Bandicoot Warped for instance. And Vagrant Story. And also the Tekken games.

But now, I don't have the time to do this. I can't even finish most of the games. I have a lot of work to do. I no longer can focus on video games as much as I want to. Maybe if I can quit my job and be able to exclusively work from home, I can do this once again.

From a mental standpoint, I have to complete the game, to be honest. It's something I've always had since I was a child. In fact, I've even gone back to games I didn't complete as a kid to finish. Even if the story wasn't good or something, if I enjoyed the gameplay, I was going to finish that game.

When it comes to achievements (milestones in the game), I like to collect them along the way. But I've never hunted for achievements, more so just to finish the game itself.

I don't have enough time to do so, but I used to aim for full completion when I was in highschool!
Not only completion, but also beating time records and aiming for higher scores than before.
This was the case for the third installment of Crash Bandicoot, Warped I believe? A masterpiece of a game that made you want to go back despite it being finished! I have yet to experience that level of ambition in another game.

I used to have to complete the game 100% no matter what game it was. I loved just having more stuff to play for in a game and I hated not fully completing a game. I' don't play like that anymore because I like to play games for fun now so it's not that big of a deal to me any more!

it boils down to being addictive to a game and wanting to leave a level or stage of a particular before calling it a day.Candy crush is one game I always want to complete a level before quitting and I always do.

In some cases, I will usually try to complete the story line and stop short. I am not a perfectionist when it comes to DLC and easter eggs. I am satisfied if I can finish the story mode on my first playthrough. If the game feels boring, I will abandon it and rest for a while before going back to it.
