Have anyone noticed there are a lot of botters in warcraft? It has become a nuisance in the past few days. Mostly I see them near some water, killing sirens just when they spawn. The same person does this for days in one stretch and keep spamming the same skill on and on. Reported them and still no response. Anyone else saw these kind of unusual stuffs? These bots are hindering progress by killing quest enemies.

Bots have always been a problem in World of Warcraft. As soon as they break one, another appears. They have even sued people over it.

You may have to report more than once. Their system tends to get bogged down (especially after they cut staff). They also take time to investigate.

Are you playing on retail or in a private server?

I actually haven't seen many bots myself and I've been playing from the start of World of Warcraft. I only reported a few of them and that happened completely randomly. I never see them killing mobs or anything like that. They tend to focus more on money making professions such as herbing and mining. You could often see them flying and botting different nodes. I think even before flying was available in the Suramar. You had the bots flying there, haha.

You can't do much about it except write a report. They will get banned 100% though but I do know that it can be annoying. Sadly, bots are part of every game. The more popular it is, the more attractive it is for potential bots.

I remember watching a stream of bots going in and out of the dungeons in Hellfire Peninsula. There must have been hundreds. It went on for quite some time. There was a sale going on that included boosted toons. They were all Paladins wearing starter gear (that came with the boosts). It was a sight to see. I don't know what was so valuable in those dungeons to keep them constantly streaming in.

It also happened in Halls of Lightning. There were tons there too.

Maannn, bots are rampant in WoW specially in private servers. I remember this fly hacking happening in Warsong Gulch and it's funny but frustrating at the same time. A human holding a flag swimming up in the air. Now where can you see that? Instant win for them because I'm a hordie. x.x

I'm talking about retail. I'm sure it's a problem in any game, since it seems like new ones come out as quickly as they break the old ones. I would have thought that the tokens would slow down the bots, at least the gold selling ones.

I remember when the gold sellers used to make a bunch of level ones and have them floating in the air, spelling out the name of their websites? Crazy stuff.

Yeah, I've seen more than a few bots in battlegrounds. I'm pretty sure my whole team was bots once in an Isle of Conquest game.

Yeah I know. I also made that as a reference to a private server. Where else do bots occur first but retails themselves.

Ah right I remember that.

Have you also remembered the gift wrap bug which you can duplicate any items and sell them?

I remember hearing about it. I found out when I could no longer find wrapping paper without traveling outside a city to get it. I guess it was to keep the low level bots from accessing it. There is always someone ready to take advantage of ways to scam people it seems.

I liked the gift wrap for giving gifts to guild members, friends, and for prizes for contests. I thought it was a nice touch, but I thought it got removed. Then, I found it again.

Truthfully I haven't seen many bots in Legion. Then again, I play on Doomhammer, which used to be one THE most populous servers but died pretty hard after the Cataclysm subscriber purge. Maybe that's somehow a detriment to the business of botters? I'm pretty sure there are people who think I'm a bot, though, as I spend long hours flying around a pattern in Suramar for the plants that grow there. Alchemy has been paying for my game on this server!
