PC gaming is very powerful and not from now, is been for a while. People spend more time on PC than playing on a PlayStation or their phone. So, yes I do agree PC gaming is going to be the best in gaming section!

I think PC gaming is going to take over soon what do you think
Technology is changing at a rapid pace. PC ten years from now is going to be different then the way we know it today. My Samsung Galaxy S8+ is more powerful then a 4 year old PC. And you can buy a docking station that turns it into a PC. Who knows they may have shrunk PC CPU's so small in the next 10 years that cell phones and PC's use the same CPU and GPU. And future smart phones may be something like the Nintendo switch where you plug it into a docking station and it's a full blown PC.

I would argue it already has! For years the rhetoric had been that video game consoles are becoming more like PCs. With the advent of off-the-shelf component construction of video game consoles, and adherence to x86 architecture, they're not like PCs anymore; they are PCs. Admittedly, they're not general purpose PCs and your video game console, while very capable of displaying game content, would be pretty second rate at doing lots of other things, I maintain the difference now is purely in how we behave in front of these different sorts of computers, rather than what's under the hood.

There really is no where else for consoles to go. They've hit several hard ceilings.

- There's basically nothing left to offer in terms of graphical fidelity. We've already got near photo realistic graphics if we want them. Really the problem is studios finding the money to actually create content that has a high enough definition to take advantage of this, not the hardware itself.

- Consoles are about 5 years from no longer being cheaper than comparable pcs so the "cost-benefit" argument in favor of consoles is rapidly failing to hold true.

- Young gamers are more and more eschewing consoles in favor of dedicated home computers anyway.

The question isn't "if", it's "when".

Will PC take over completely what? the gaming market? No. It will never be the sole gaming platform that offers you to play games... perhaps the popularity of consoles will drop in the future but I highly doubt that the computer will be the only thing that we will be using. Even now, look how many players are still using different consoles; Xbox One, PS4, Switch, 3DS and so on... there are plenty of only console gamers and that will never change no matter how good the PC's might get. They are also constantly updating and releasing new consoles to keep up with the PC market. Who knows what we will be using in twenty years from now.. perhaps something else will replace the computers ;)

I think PC will not take over completely. A gaming console is meant purely for gaming and entertainment. When I think of PC, work comes first to mind then only gaming. However, PC has a higher ceiling in terms of performance. The differences in game titles also help to separate PC and consoles in the market.

I don't think that PC gaming will take over completely. There are many good PlayStation games available. Most of my friends play PlayStation games and we usually share the games with one another. I personally prefer to play on my PlayStation rather than my PC. I find it more convenient. There are also new PlayStation games being developed.

PC and consoles will coexist forever, and the console war will somehow go on forever.
Now it's less intense, since both PC and console are living a pretty good life and are completely supported by developers, at the same level. There are some PC exclusives and some console exclusives.
But none of them, PC or console, will ever ever take over.

I believe that the war will last for a long time but as time passes by the PC will stand out due to its adaptability. Then with time i think PC gaming will replace consoles.

I do not think that as possible. There might even be bias when it comes to people commenting here and I find it funny. I am a PC gamer myself and I have acknowledge there will always be people who prefer consoles over the PC.
I do not see the need for 'war' here. What I think would be great is that if developers of the game allow cross-platform gameplay.
It's funny how consoles get a better version of themselves, PCs do not.
Like there is PS, PS2, and PS3 but there will never be PC2. (Just kidding)

Indeed technology moves forward every day, and of course pcs will be better every day too. But a console is made entirely for gaming, why staying there only with a pc when you have a full console made specially for it? yes, performance on a pc is great, way much better than mobile devices, but then, why do companies make consoles? To show you there is the best way to show a game, to enjoy it with all its accessories, plot line, online sharing around the world, so yeah pc rocks but that doesn't mean is going to take over.

I really do not think so! Most of my gamer friends still prefer to play a full version on the PC than playing in a console. Even I prefer PC versions of almost all games I play. Consoles are great, I am not even talking about which one is better... I only think that playing on a PC is something that old school people will never leave on a side.

Not in the foreseeable future. Companies in the home console industry are still making a huge sum of money from unit sales, licensing, and software sales. A lot of people are still into console gaming which is why I don't see the PC ever ruling supreme and become the last system standing.

Besides, people want variety. It would be bad for the gaming industry if the PC would be the only system in which we could play games.

The survival of the consoles still depend on gamers. Let's support consoles. Let's support variety.

Depends on what you mean by completely- if i means essentially eliminating them then no- cause nintendo alone would make sure that never happens with their gimmick obsessed consoles. Plus gaming computers may be better but that never fully replaces the simplicity of simply plug it in and play that consoles offer without worrying about compatibility issues down the road since it is straight forward. No checking drivers, random incompatibilities with certain cpus (for reference check no mans sky's pc launch compared to console launch) and no direct X issues to worry about.

Not really. People would still choose console games. Having different platforms for gaming makes gaming life a bit interesting. PC games may dominate the industry but no matter what you do, console players will still be there. Like people still buy vinyls when high definition sound recording is available...

PC Gaming will never take over. The Gamer will always have a choice whether they buy a console or a PC. My choice is that I am a console gamer rather than a PC gamer at the moment.

No way. It'll never happen. You have to realize the tele set manufacturers play into this as well. They have 80 inch flatscreen t.v.s now. Flatscreen T.V.'s with curved screens, HD televisions, and other high end flatscreen sets. Why would anyone want to play on their computer when they can game on a 60 inch HDTV? Even a 45 inch flatscreen beats a PC for two reasons.

1.) The set can handle the graphics. Even high end gaming computers still have trouble at times keeping up with the twists and turns of a video game and its graphics.
2.) If you use your PC for more than gaming? Gaming on it too much is sure to shorten its lifespan. By using your console often your PC will thank you later on.

Gaming via console is also more fun for me as it gives me a break from my PC which I am on often during the day for work purposes.

The takeover is a very strong word. But I think it's very possible that in a not so distant future, PCs evolve to a point where they can be responsible for the majority of releases

Yes.I see it taking over because there are so many computer games now and the graphics I'd quite superb. Consoles would soon be dumped.

I think it will still depend on the gamer. The word take-over is a possibility but as we know, there are still people who enjoy games using video consoles. I can agree that some games on the video consoles can now be played using desktops, but I know a lot of people who use Playstations and Xbox. Like I said earlier, it is still the gamer's preference. As long as there are still people who use video console, they will still continue to produce games for them.
