I remember playing Resident Evil 3 as a kid (while watching another playthrough in another save file by my cousin) when the (SPOILERS) ending boss fight appeared. For background, the government's plan to solve the zombie problem plaguing Racoon City was to drop a nuke on it so everything dies. You now have a timed clock to get to the escape helicopter and save yourself from the blast, while being chased by Nemesis, the titular enemy boss character, while a much more powerful variant comes along in the final area to prevent you from escaping - or does it?

You get an option to either run away or fight the final boss in the final area under the time given before the missile strikes. If you choose to not fight, then that's it, game over, you still win. Talk about anticlimactic.

There are many such moments. We have frequent power cuts over here and sometimes when I am in the midst of playing a game the power will just go off and at times this means that I will have to restart playing the game all over again. Other times it happen when I am about to reach my goal in the game but I die or get defeated before achieving my objective.

There are many such incidents. I think there are many times when I have to leave my game at a very crucial moment. The frequency increased manifolds after I had my baby. The toddler just knows the exact moment when to disturb me especially when I cannot afford to leave the game at all. LOL

Abrupt interruptions suck. They just all happen exactly when you can't afford to leave your console, it's incredible. Sudden freezes that make you lose hours of progress are even worse.
As for games themselves... I think the one that disappointed me the most was Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice. The game is made up of five chapters, and the first four are amazing. They really breathed fresh air into the series' gameplay, and it all seemed to be turning for the best based on how the plot progressed. The ending, though, was extremely lackluster and anticlimatic, especially compared to the series' standards. Such a shame.

Easy, hackers and exploiters. Over the years, they've ruined many good gaming servers in the midst of perfectly good moments (especially for FPS:emoji_disappointed_relieved:). In my area, I don't experience power outages often. Though I do remember one time my dad flipping the main switch on our circuit board once. Cut us all off, haha. In the midst of being in a CS:GO tournament. Back in the day, my PS2 fried many times before I had saved any progress after completing a decent portion of a game. Yep, moments like those have ruined practically perfect moments in my gaming history. Good times:emoji_face_palm:

Yeah, happened to me once. I was playing counter strike. Was on a mission to kill the enemies, suddenly my cat jumps in from nowhere and then... BAM... My Guy's DEAD.

I can even make a haiku outta this.

Playing counter strike,
My cat Yolo jumps in -
A dead soldier.

This.
This is a nightmare for everyone playing online matchmaking games, especially Defense of the Ancients 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Sometimes it would just be power surges and the electricity will be back right away but my PC would take plenty of time to start up. Adding to that time would be the unnecessary startup programs. It is actually very frustrating.

I think there was one time I was playing console and our dog managed to unplug the power chord. What an amazing dog he is

Well, this happened a few days ago. I was playing Counter Strike Global Offensive and all was going great, I was on the road to get a high rank when the power cut off. Outside was a wonderful storm and we stayed without electricity over an hour. I was on the wave playing the game and all went down in just a second. I hate when something like this happens!

Honestly I had no idea what to answer readint the title, but then I read your post abot the final boss of RE3... and I remember another great game ruined near the final boss fight.
Or should I say, ruined BY the final boss fight!
I'm talking about the first Batman Arkham Asylum, where the final boss is just.... stupid, honestly. I don't want to get into details and spoiler too much, but now that I think of it, that was a great game but the other boss fights were also pretty lame and boring. The sequel did it better luckily.

Over here it's not so much about power cuts but rather internet connection failures. More than once i was stuck in the middle of a critcal game and then everything lagged. Befroe i could do anything about it bam too late.

Wow, I remember this. I played it as a kid too, and was expecting something different. I thought maybe this guy will follow us on the helicopter and I'll still have to fight him, maybe if I don't I'll get a different ending where he's still around and survives the nuke.. but nothing. I remember being so disappointed.

When you have a child things definitely get more difficult and you don't even have that much time to play. You are right children only disturbs at the wrong moment.

I have been gaming since 1984 and I have only had a game ruined on me one time. I was playing the original COD Bops and I just finished the game after a 5 hour gaming session. I didn't get up to take a drink, or to eat, or to go to the bathroom.

And then my ex~wife started screaming like a maniac while the credits were rolling. And my favorite part about playing a video game is beating the game and watching the credits. So she killed the whole game for me right then and there!

A moment that ruined a game for me would be when I was playing 2k17 for two hours straight, and I had all my snacks ready and all lined up. I was just about to beat my friend for the thousandth time. When my other friend got sent to the hospital because he feel off a roof. I had to stop my game and visit him in the hospital.

Yeah... They know when to start cribbing. There are times when I simply hate to see my game getting spoiled. But he turns into such a tantrum throwing kid that I have to cater to his demands instantly. Having a kid changed my gaming life upside down.

Do you have kids?

For me it was the end of Other M. I didn't even have an idea that I was fighting the last boss. It was so dumb, too! It was a wave of cockroach critters that Mother was supposedly controlling. That game's narrative was as bad as everyone says it was but the gameplay was okay. Not the best, but okay. But that ending just was too much for me.

Yup, the last boss of the entire game was completely skippable. And you don't even have to outrun or outsmart him. There's literally a choice that is given to you with either staying or getting away from the final area. What a waste.

The moment that the "Cataclsym" expansion launched in World of Warcraft. To be fair, not everything about it was bad, but it definitely changed the game. They destroyed the old world when they tried to remake a good portion of it, removing too many things that people loved. They also made the leveling experience way too easy.

While some good things came with that expac, it was the first time I seriously thought about quitting the game for good. I stayed through MoP (of all things), but it was like playing a totally different game after that.
