And take actions is the second solution that will lead you to keep moving to the right path, if you really recognized well your problem and really want to change it to the good.

Yes, in theory this is the most logical sequence... But unfortunately it is not that order that addicts usually follow. But the important thing is to get rid of addiction.

I used to bet on Dota 2. But I am not seeing any profits. Although my bets were not that big. Lol. Probably below a dollar or more. Maybe I just am bad on betting x.x But my friends are getting much when they bet. But they bet big time though. Not a dollar or some coins, they bet huge amounts.

But the problem of gambling addiction usually does, doesn't it? I mean, with small amounts and gradually they evolve (and I think this is the danger :zombiemeh:).

I actually have and I did so regularly during my early teen years. Defense of the Ancients is a really popular game here and a lot of people would play it competitively with real life money involved. What I did back then was I would bet on a team so they would be able to play with no money involved (I was sponsoring a few members in a way), but if they win, I keep the money. It's a win-win because they get to do what they love doing and I'm only in it for the money lol.

Hahahahaha... I have to say that your move was a smart one! :tearsofjoy: Clever boy! :sunglasses:

I have played slot games in casino's which they are a type of video game nowadays if you want to count that") I never bet real money on a video game, however, I have bet in game gold on games, like I bet 1,000 gold I reach the next level then one of my friends. some times I win most of the time I lose lol. I also played games that had gambling games inside of them.

Well... I think a bet is a bet on any kind of game. :palpatine: What really changes is the game itself where you decide to bet, right? :bluesquaretongue:

If the focus of the bet is this, I think it's cool and funny. The problem begins when the focus of the bet is related to the financial aspect. :triumph:

Yeah agreed, but I've tried betting on sports. I won in my first bet, then lost on the remaining ones, I stopped after a week and was down for a $100. Paid and cut my losses. I never bet again.

What's left is the lesson that you learned, so... Despite the financial loss (which is always a bad thing :zombiebanghead:), it was an extremely valid experience, wasn't it?

Yes, but I pity those who get addicted and get loans then ends up in a huge debt.

Taking a loan to do such a stupid thing should be considered a crime... Seriously! :triumph:

Agreed, I have a few friends who are in debt because of it, I'd like to help them, but apparently they just used the money to gamble again and hope to win, instead of paying the debt. I think they're addicted to it. But I don't know anyone personally who bet on games though.

I've had the displeasure to see one of my best friends in debt because of gambling and it's a very sad / hard thing to see. :zombiebanghead:

I not the type of person that bets to gamble even if I know that me or a team could win a game. Because I'm the type of person that thinks first what important things I could buy with the money instead of betting with no guarantee of winning. Games should not be used as a business because it was made for gamers and viewers to enjoy the fun and exciting adrenaline of the game. And also money involved in games could also cause unnecessary fights between players that can destroy friendships and worst establishments.

That is true. I know a few person who is really in deep with gambling and had to borrow from friends to avoid getting in trouble with loan sharks.

I have never betted on any games, ever. There are two simple reasons:

1) I am far too frugal when it comes to money.

2) It is too risky. I always invest money into things that don't involve many risks and betting has too many variables and factors that can influence the outcome.

Sure you can make money and profit betting on games but you can also easily get addicted and end up losing more than you wanted.
I feel the same way too. Too risky because anything can happen. Even the best team can be beaten by new teams specially the underdogs. That's why people tend to just bet randomly and hope for the best.

I have never done it and will never do it. I don't think that gambling is fun. I usually play a game for my personal satisfaction and not to earn money. Very often I play in groups too but gambling has never crossed our minds. My friends and I we play mostly for the enjoyment and fun.

It's like a snowball that - unfortunately -doesn't seem to stop growing. It's a really, really sad situation. :worried:

I'm alway betting on things! lol but I only bet if I know I can win otherwise I would not do it. I guess it adds a little more adrenaline rush to the game. Especially if you know the person you are betting against and you know how they work and play. It's a little fun. I don't agree when you say it's like stealing money. not at all.

I'm strictly against betting. Gaming is just for fun and adding this element of gambling ruins all the fun. It tenses and destroys the entire atmosphere.

Moreover whenever I play games I want to play them with a relaxed mind free from all the pressure and underlying tensions.
I feel you there, betting has ruined a lot of lives, and also once you bet there is always the pressure of winning instead of enjoying the game. Games for me are a way to get over my stressed working day, not to generate more tension and alarm.

Agreed, but you can't do anything to help them until they start to help themselves first. All you can do is give advice and hope that they would listen.

Yeah, you're right. The most important step is always to recognize that the problem exists. Before that, nothing can be done. :worried:

I do not think it's a matter of "stealing money", after all... No one is forcing you to play. I mean, you play because you want to.

Maybe I'm a little bit harsh about it, but... I think THAT is the real spirit of a true gamer. :sunglasses:

Exactly! If it's a mutual agreement I don't see the problem in gambling or betting at all.

You are right it does change the game. In Fall out Las vegas once i got to the casino's i played black jack until I got enough money to by the better weapons that I could and enough ammo to last me through most of the game. I think it was cheating and kinda took some of the game experience away. :)

Yeah i do! Betting on pro games is fun. Although i dont do it too often cause i only bet on games that i truly think will win but will still yield a considerable amount on the event thar my predictions came true. I dont like to bet on wildcarda tho it's too risky. I understand that betting could make u lose so much money. I have one friend who lost around 4k on a single week cause of gaming but i guess it's all about control.

I am always against gambling and it has never occurred to me to bet on games. I think it's a great way to lose money quickly. Some people might be lucky enough to make some money on it but better not risk it.
