Adjusting your clock to get more lives or energy

Don't you hate it when you're completely immersed in a mobile game when all of a sudden it says that you're out of lives or energy to continue to the next level and you'll have to wait for xx number of minutes or hours in order for them to regenerate? I personally hate it. But you can cheat your way out of this on some games (especially those that do not require an internet connection). Just adjust your clock.

Take Candy crush for instance. Of you ran out of lives trying to get past a level, and you have to wait for 30 minutes for one life to recharge. Go to your settings, advance the clock for 30 minutes and voila! You instantly have another life! If you need more lives, you can advance your clock further.

I've also tested this method in Shadow Fight. When I ran out of energy, I just go to settings and advance the clock of my mobile device. Instant energy!

What other games do you think is this technique applicable?

Haha, yeah, I have heard about this ''trick'' or ''exploit'' but I never used it myself. Is it a bannable thing if the app owners find out or do they not care about it? I do have Candy Crush on my phone and I am at a rather high level so it would suck if I'd get banned from it just because I couldn't be bothered to wait for 30minutes.

Anyway, I think that this will most likely work in any game that's similar to Candy Crush; for example in Farm Heroes Saga, Bubble Witch Saga, and so on. It's a very neat trick if it's allowed ;)

Nah, they don't ban players for adjusting the clock on their smartphone. Haha! I think it's just something that these game developers live with. Unless they find another way to monitor the time elapsed aside from the clock of the mobile device, this trick could be used over and over.

The only remedy for developers to counter this loophole is to make their game playable only if there's an internet connection. But not all gamers would like this sort of thing. We don't like to lose precious data exclusively for playing games right?

I only did this when I used to play Candy Crush, when the game was so mainstream haha it was very funny because I remember all my friends waiting like crazy until the have a new life and I told them to change the clock in their phones to have more lives, the were so excited and loved that fact, was amazing.

Wow, I remember doing this in some old DS games, I never tried on any mobile devices (I've never wanted to play a game so much to mess up my phone's settings, lol).
Most popular gacha games (Fire Emblem Heroes, to name one of the most recent ones) probably don't allow nor permit that, since 1) they require an internet connection to work and 2) rewards are handed out based on their central server's hour, so everyone gets it at the same time. Gacha games are like actual businesses, so exploiting their reward system would be a catastrophe to them. I suppose the same goes for any other game with forced internet connection, right?

I never even thought of doing that for a mobile game :screamcat: It seems like a pain to do regularly, especially if you use your phone for regular phone stuff. If you had a separate phone (or tablet) just for gaming, then that would be pretty cool! I always hate waiting for my energy to be restored. Though, if I didn't have to wait, I'd probably waste even more time playing mobile games, lol. It's like a built-in limit for me.

Does it work even for games that require an internet connection?

Probably not. Internet connection is required to assure you get ads, but it's most likely used to fetch hour and date from their servers. You should probably look at the game's specific permissions and in-game features: some might just require it for the leaderboard, in which case it should be viable, but games with daily rewards most likely do it to prevent the abuse of their reward system (even moreso if currency can be bought with money from their shop).

I have used this method in Farm Heros Saga, but you know that this means we cheat right? I'm not proud of myself but I just get bored too fast sometimes and I need a bigger challenge so I'm trying to find it to a higher level! I hate when we are limited by life or energy in a game!

HAHA! I can relate to that. I remember that there were few games back then that I adjusted my clock just to get rid of the cooldown or to lessen the upgrade time of my character. The only bad side on this one is when I reset the time to the normal time, its like a get a debt on it because the time on my upgrades became bigger so its good if we just let our clock stay on the right time. This is actually a trick or a cheat in gaming especially on most offline games ;)
