I have vague memories of playing Super Mario Bros and Doctor Mario while little, plus a game called Double Dragon that I REALLY liked somehow haha. Before getting our first console we used to go to a mall and rent them per hour to play games, mostly a Dragon Ball one.

After that I was hooked, it's pretty hard to pinpoint the exact moment!

I started playing brick game in 1996 when I was in primary school.I bought it with my hard earned savings. I started playing it then, tho I was hiding it from my parents. Its the game I enjoyed most before it was seized by my parents.

I got an NES when it first came out in the 80's but before then I'd say it was an old computer game called Fat Cat. I also remember staying at a cousins house and playing fast food on the Atari. Watch out for those purple pickles! I can't fully recall when but we used to have to play Organ Trail at school. Oh how far we have come since those simple forms of computer technology! lol

Oh the Atari! So many good memories! Actually i was too young when the Atari was boomimg but when i was in my teens my mother gave me hers. I loved games like Pitfall and River Raid. Old but gold.

Yeah, it's funny how such a primitive console can still be good in an age of near photo realism. It's still fun to play with single colored blocks in worlds with black backgrounds. It just goes to show that it's good game mechanics and software design that makes a game good. Graphics and narrative, cinematic scenes and orchestrated music are all nice, but ultimately superfluous. Gameplay is king.

I thinl so too! Back then technology wouldn't allow for better graphics so developers focused on gameplay and story instead. Some of the best games i have ever played are old games.

That was me, I have started playing games with tetris game. I loved it and I cannot believe how caught of that game I was. After that I had a family PC and I have started play small games for kids, and slowly I ended up playing big games, and for this was necessary to change my PC in a powerful one!

I honestly kind of miss those times. They had to get weird with their imaginations to make games feel different since the lack of system resources and storage capacity shoehorned what they could do. Games today have a certain sameyness to them, in contrast to all the far out concepts you'd see in games from years past. That characters were often just a few pixels also made me use my imagination more to add life to a scene that was playing out in front of me. I don't get that mental exercise anymore now that drama is spoon fed to me by these lush visuals. Sometimes more is less.

Indeed! You can notice this is a trend and is not only restricted to video games. Movies, songs, series, i feel that everything was better developed in the past. Nowadays content creation is easy and anyone can do it. There is of course plenty of good games and movies nowadays but the overall quality of the media produced is way lower.

I started playing games because my neightbour received a Play Station as a christmas present when we were 8. My brother became a gamer and then he started teaching me some stuffs about it. Our family got a computer and we start using it to play until years and years after each one of us got a personal pc.

Solitaire is evil! My addiction with games started with Spider Solitaire and nothing has been able to cut it short till this day. But hey, cheers to great times as I have found no friend as entertaining and at the same time engaging as my games. So I choose to say thank you to the makers of Spider Solitaire somehow. Gracias!

I think my cousin introduced me first for the game. You can see that there are some games which I played on console like Sonic and Mario then later moved to the PC. I also remember quake series in old games which my cousin and I used to play a lot. And it was very good time playing with him on that front.

I have a theory (which may or may not hold water, I'd love to hear arguments against it) that the lowering of the bar to entry is responsible for this. Technology has simplified many of the processes involved in those crafts you mentioned to such a degree that it is now accessible to a hobbyist, where as in the past you needed to be educated pretty rigorously to even be able to operate the equipment. This created a sort of "laziness firewall" that ensured the weak washed out of the craft early on. Today, you don't need to be a musician to make music and distribute it world-wide. Likewise, gaming is becoming subject to an influx of people with little real capability as developers "thanks" to easier tools and lower corporate standards.

Sorry to disapoint you but i have to agree hahaha. You can notice this everywhere bro. Back when our grandfathers were around things were tough. Parents educated their children strictly and labor was the only thing that took a man far in this world. Nowadays everything is easy. We deal with a generation of spoiled kids who have everything easy but are still always complaining that their demands are not met. The cultural production of a society is a reflex of the society itself and that is why nowadays media isn't as good as past media.

I started playing games when I bought my first Compaq Pentium III. The first game that I installed was Need for Speed II. A stunning game.I know that everybody knows this game. I was playing this game the whole day. I challenged a lot of my friends. I still love this game up to know and I am thinking to download it and play it once again.

I remember playing the Brick Game back when I was a kid; it belonged to my cousin and it blew my mind when I first played Tetris, Pong, and that Tank game. For a kid who grew up just watching TV, having a game at the palm of my hands was a game changer. I wanted to buy one, but sadly having only a few cents to my name, I had to save up for years later. But when I finally had the money to buy something, I opted to buy a GBA instead, which was the far superior hand held device.

The very first time I played a video game was with a Super Nintendo console that a relative brought from the U.S and gave it to us. I remember I was around 7 years old maybe and I was so amazed because I never saw anything like this.

I began playing as a small child, as my family would sit around the tv and play the old Super Nintendo. Super Mario 1 and 3, Super Mario Word, Donkey Kong Country etc. were all classics that I spent many hours playing. From there I think we got a Gamecube, and I play Mario sunshine, and Kirby's air ride. Nintendo started a long love of video games that is still with me even today as I play my Switch with Zelda =D.

How I got started with gaming was through my cousin. He would always let me play with his game boy. I played Mario and Pokemon all day.
