I don't have Xbox but I play a lot of games on Steam, and there are achievements there too. And I don't care about them at all. Maybe sometime I might try to get a particular achievement if it's something peculiar or funny (like the gnome in Half Life 2 Episode 2), otherwise I just play the game and if I unlock an achievement while playing... well, good for me, but that's not why I play.

Achievements, when implemented properly, add a whole new layer to the game. It's nice to acquire achievements as it is a reminder that you have been this far on a specific game.

The other one was for the bragging rights, especially achievements for limited-time events. Just goes to show that I've done something remarkable when it was first released.

To have fun and enjoy is my main reasons why I play games. Although achievement sounds interesting so maybe I would try it someday. I believe achievements can do pressure and burnout to the player. In playing Special Force in our PC I get lots of achievements. I'm more into excitement and thrill I don't care about achievement as long as I am enjoying.

I used to be the type of person that HAD to get every single achievement...I like to play just for fun now :)
Preach. I even tried playing some games that had only a couple of achievements just to boost my Steam score, but after about 4 games it was a chore not a challenge. I wasn't particularly enjoying the games. So I went back to casual gaming, and enjoy the surprise of an achievement, like in Paladins, where the gocus is teamwork.

I actually managed to get a platinum trophy on Playstation 3 in Skyrim! I'm not sure how difficult that really is but it was my only one and I was proud of it. There were so many to get in order to fulfill the requirements, too. I had to play through several times because the PS3 version of the game was borderline broken, containing several game-destroying glitches that corrupted save files or left you unable to finish a main quest line. But that's just how good the game was; I was willing to keep going even despite its technical flaws.

Honestly, I start playing a game to try it out and check how much of what people say is true, but eventually I get really into it, and in some way of course I want to earn the achievements, get harder levels, discover new tricks, you know, dominate the game. Once I know how to move in the game, I enjoy playing it

I'm not a fan of getting achievements although if it comes with in-game rewards such as neat and useful items, it is worth going for. I always consider whether it will be worth my time. I don't care about showing my friends that I have killed a boss in hardest difficulty with no damage. I just want to get that rare item drop.

Often when I am playing games I just tend to collect them as I go because sometimes I just don't have the time to try and collect all of the achievements

I don't care about achievements, If I get them by playing the game then great. I have only gotten 100% achievements on two games and that's Fallout 3 and Oblivion. And it wasn't because I was going after achievements. But it was because I wanted to do every quest in the game. And all of the quests were part of the achievements.
