How to control body movement when playing video games with a game pad/controller?

It happens to me a lot man. When I play mount and blade I tend to move forward with every strike. As if I wanted to "get in" the fight myself. I don't know if there are any known solutions but relaxing before playing and not getting so excited seems like a reasonable strategy. Maybe some meditation to calm the mind?

Wow that's not possible the body movement is a reflex, like I do not know how to stop moving when I play games especially with a controller it's like me moving in real life makes the whole process more efficient you know so I just do it. Mine is a bit minimal my friends move over the place when they play Need for speed like its some form of steering but then I think it makes the game more interesting.

Sure, it makes the game more interesting. But at times, the looks I got from some people make me feel bad,as if I'm an amateur gamer. Lol

I speak from experience. I have been having a very restless mind (In truth I've been quite paranoid ) and I have been trying meditation to help calm me down. It has helped a lot but I have never tried it before playing. Maybe 15 minutes of meditation before playing might help you stay cool. I bet it would even affect your gameplay positively.

I witnessed people played like this and at first I see it a bit funny. Now I still see it but I consider it a normal gesture while playing. I consider the extra movement "follow thru". It can still put a smile on my face a bit when I see someone plays like this but I'd rather watch the game rather than the player.

Ahahahahaha such a great questions! It made me laugh just to remember how I lose the control of my body when I am playing! It was so funny to read all of your answers. To be honest, I do not even try to "control" my body. Playing helps me relax and I am not going to be worried about control myself while playing. I just let it flow hahaha

Wow. This is a new thing to me.
I have never ever thought about gaming and meditation in a sentence.
I'm not good at meditation, maybe I should start learning it seriously.

I have not tried meditating before games too. I usually have a habit of going to wash my face before going to game.

Same here-I just want to enjoy the game. I lean in when trying to run to others to heal them, flail if I miss, lean back at a heartfelt cutscene, and likely more reactions. Judging by the lack of broken things or spilled drinks near me, I can assume I dont move much around the pc!

Yeah man it's easier than you think some people think they'll never be able to meditate but anyone can meditate. And it's quite easy too all you need is a calm place and some music (Preferably). Check this out:

I think they just get very immersed in the game and don't even recognize the moment. When it gets tense, I tend to grit my teeth and push the buttons like crazy even though it has no impact on the game, you can press lightly or push the button with all your strength, the game reacts the same way. But that's what I used to do. I think all of the strange movements aren't done on purpose, it just consumes you when you're really into the game. But I'm not sure how could one control it. If you would think about your body movements more, you'd have to think about the game less.

I see my friend. For me, I just grab the controller and dance to the music of it. Lol

Hahaha, this is funny but very true. This happens to me too.
But sadly, I can't get over it. It has become part of me
Nah like there was a couple times I actually toppled off of my chair and fell on my ass. My buddies would always laugh so hard. Fun times

The frequency of body movements decline as we slowly get used to playing the game. The body movements are intense as well as frequent in the beginning. But they soon subside as we learn to handle the controls. Though a few reflex body movements once in a while are just fine and are considered as normal human instincts.

I was also a victim of moving my body or following the movement of players while playing football. But after constant playing and being long in the system, I no longer do that.
I see that as what every beginner must undergo before getting use to it.
