Do you consider mobile games to be "gaming?"

They are games, so mobile gaming is a thing. However, its features are very different from its other competitors.
Most mobile games are easy to play and require little to no dedication, except for those games like Clash of Clans that require steadiness (but we're still talking about short time spans), most of them don't even have a proper story and their gameplays are simplified. Most mobile games are not supposed to make you feel anything, if not amusement. I think that's what makes the main difference between mobile gaming and classic gaming.

Perhaps not at a super competitive e-Sports level, but yes it is gaming in my opinion. This is especially the case in today's standards where there are very big, expansive and long, sort of in depth games with plenty to do and multiplayer with leaderboards and achievements. Many games are no different to their console or pc counterparts.

I hear there is now an eLeague for certain games too, such as Gameloft's Modern Combat 5 and Supercell's Clash Royale, which I guess is a good thing. They work just like any other game on any other platform would, so there's no reason not to call it true "gaming."

Supercell's Clash of Clans and Clash Royale are one of my favorite games and I do consider them as gaming. However, I understand that there are major limitations of those game to compare to platform games especially in terms of depth, complexity, and the most important thing is the ability to play it continuously without waiting delays.

I've always been inclined to consider mobile gaming as "casual gaming", as it's something I've only ever done to pass the time. For me, mobile games aren't nearly as time consuming or demanding as PC or console games, so I've never really considered them as an outlet for "hardcore gaming". Nonetheless, perhaps that perception will change in the coming years with the introduction of virtual reality gaming!

That is a real funny one lol... Especially for games like angry birds or farmville, am not sure I did call them gamers but there are some few mobile games that deserve a trophy at least. Also consider mobile consoles like the PSP vita, they have some really impressive games too. Maybe we did just relax the criteria and call them gamers.

Yes!! There were the games that open my eyes to games. I really appreciate mobile gaming. Despite the fact that the have poor graphics and don't have strategy. I still consider them as game..

Well I will put it to you this way, I think the future of gaming is going to be mobile gaming. Every AAA publisher under the sun is working on AAA games for Android and IOS right now. And with the advancements in cell phone technology evolving at a rapid pace. Its not going to be long before your playing the same game on your cell phone and on your Playstation and Xbox. It never been a better time to be a gamer! So to answer your question, yes I consider playing games on a cell phone as gaming.

In the past I spent more time playing on the phone, that is, about 3 to 4 hours a day. Today I usually play about 1 to 2 hours a day. I like to play at night, just before bed. I think it's a good way to relax and fall asleep quickly.

A lot of the games available on mobile are literally just there so people can kill time with them when they're commuting or something, not really on the same level as a game that requires you to be following a story, developing a strategy or even simply grinding levels. Depending on what the person's attitude towards the game is, I think is the deciding factor as to whether or not they're a gamer. Someone who plays a game like Candy Crush as a brainless activity to pass the time would probably not call themselves a gamer, but someone who plays Pokémon Go by walking around their neighborhood or their town for an hour a day to gain levels and take over gyms is more of a gamer. Just my two cents!

As devices get more powerful, so will the games. While there are a lot of games aimed at the casual gamer on iOS and android, their are some games you wouldn't have thought you could have on your phone 10 years ago. Also, gaming isn't just for the hardcore gamer. Just as movies aren't just for movie buffs

I do not consider this as gaming its basically just ruining the phone, how does one tap the screen of a phone just to play a game one time a friend of mine was playing 'Injustice Gods Among U' sand he was tapping the screen so hard I felt disturbed. This is just not cool personally I do not enjoy such I won't get a real feel of gaming on mobile I like games on big screens good 3D sound system that's how to game not on a small sized screen struggling with the screen.

Gaming involves spending some times playing game and enjoying it. So with that my simple definition so playing game on mobile is still gaming. Of course I am aware that at the meeting of gaming the traditional gaming on the pc or tv screen video game come to mind. But now there's more technological advances and people can game on mobile too.

The current state of the gaming on mobile is premature. Not a lot of quality. In fact some gaming engines are lagging on mobile. And you dont get much good experience out of it. You can play some good 2D games though. But for 3D it is far ahead of the game as of now. And not an easy way out of that.

It's largely dependent on the mobile platform to be honest. A ping pong game on Nokia 3500 can hardly be classified as a game. Where's advanced games like say for instance Samsung Galaxy 6 edge, now those can be considered as a real game. A game of solitaire on a tiny Alcatel phone can also hardly be classified as gaming.

I think you could still consider yourself a gamer if those are the kinds of games you play on mobile, just not a hardcore gamer. Maybe a more appropriate term would be "a casual gamer". It's true that these games are not up to par with the current heavy duty games released these days, but they're still games. Back then in the old games, we had simpler games and they still considered it gaming, so I suppose this is barely any different

This.... actually makes a lot of sense lmao. I mean if you think about it this way, it's true. As long as it's a virtual reality game though, I wouldn't call playing tag gaming, but no matter how simplistic a virtual game is, it is still what it is, a game. Just like ET, yes that horrible NES game where you practically had nothing to do, that's still gaming by definition, a disgrace but still gaming. Back then in the simpler times, a gamer could be as simple as a guy playing Tetris, so I doubt mobile games is that different.

I'm one of the game lovers out there and I can say that mobile games are considered as gaming. I know people in the old days playing their games differently. Mobile games are just a modern version of it if you come to think of it. Mobile gaming is fun too so we should not limit ourselves. If you're a game lover your gonna understand my point because for us as long it is a game were not afraid to try it because it's our passion. Besides, I believe mobile gadget is the cheapest way you can buy to install and play lots of games in one gadget.

It does depend on the games there are some games like clash of clans and such that require strategy and building over time, these types of games I would consider someone to be a gamer in but other games such as flappy bird and other little games not so much

Absolutely yes! though we have different perspectives about gaming. Simply, gaming is the action of playing something. Mobile Games are being played and from its word "Mobile Games", we have the word "Game" hence anyone playing it can be branded as a gamer.

I am a PC gamer also though there are plenty of PC gamers that are looking down on people playing only mobile games. I just don't know why but they thing that they are superior and only gaming is found in PC or consoles which is very wrong. There are plenty of mobile games also has decent and great stories. So I would say and consider mobile gamers as a Gamer also. A simple gamer is different from a hardcore gamer though.

If you look under the word gaming in Google search engine, it means gambling but not in the kids and teens era. Gaming means to play gadgets such as PS2 play station, Xbox or computer games with actions , persistent playing and exciting. Mobile games are more on the relaxing side, it should be considered as mind thinking games.
