Yeah. It helps that after the linear tutorial, you get to explore the entire map without doing the quests. That helps in building up your levels, gold, and skills by taking monster jobs and raiding bandit lairs for their money and items. It gets a lot easier from there but you gotta survive a frustratingly hard first area though, and most people unless it's a new game + don't really have the desire to do all that stuff.
Grinding means the end of all high difficulty settings, honestly. The developers expect a certain character growth without weighting in grinding (as if some high difficulties weren't frustrating enough), and they program the main dungeons and the enemies' stats accordingly. After all, in their own way, they're still trying to be fair. It's up to us to balance it out with grinding according to our own patience and our willingness to put up with their expectations, as far as skills are concerned.

Depends on my mood really.

If I want something difficult, I play League (I mean I suck at it so it's difficult for me at least). But, when I want to just chill and have fun the I play Skyrim and sometimes Fallout 4. These two games can get quite difficult though but it's pretty much smooth sailing as long as you know what you are doing.

A touch of both will do cause I play for fun in difficult mode, so I need both for a perfect gaming experience.

Fun-I am a casual player and just want to relax or vent by games. So I lurk the Free To Play tag and try as many as I can to find what I like. Only in grindy games, like KRITIKA I just started, has a not-so-difficult "insane" mode.
I play for fun and the giggles.

I'm more of a casual gamer, so I don't like games that are too difficult. I gave up on Dark Souls III after on of the longest, angriest hours of my life, haha. But if I play a game a lot, I'll sometimes move up in difficulty if the easy levels get to be too easy and not fun anymore. Games that are too easy are just boring, but a game like QWOP that's just stupidly hard is even less fun, because you don't even get the satisfaction of finishing the game!

I play it for both. I like challenges, and it is also fun playing games.
Sometimes I do use cheat when some levels are hard to pass, I also see that has fun, cos some levels are meant to be passed by cheat.

For me its both. I like facing challenges and taking the fun and excitement that comes with winning. I just finished playing one of the most difficult games i have ever played, and will definitely play it again because of the challenges and fun it brings. LOL

Yes I think it'd be fun to play some games because they are designed that way. And some of the times difficult puzzles and the enemies makes it easy. Sometimes it's better to have both. Just difficulty alone and no fun won't make a good game. I guess entire industry struggles to find combination of both.

I tried to play Dark Souls too! Never really got interested in it (I mean I was interested then it fell off) because I got my ass handed to me by the first boss. My friends LOVED that game though. Maybe I just really sucked at it lol. I never picked that game up after that hilarious first boss encounter.

Had lots of fun cheating on my GTA games when I was young. Never really bothered with the story back then but, when I tried to play it again when I was already a bit older I finished it without cheats on. That was probably my best achievement finishing all GTA titles without cheats on haha.

I'm for the fun part.I hate to fail a level due to its difficulty.Makes me nervous sometimes,so that game can't be enjoyable anymore.
I prefer chilling games, requiring attention, focus, speed reaction ,but not mind-exploding ,haha.I may opt for difficulty whenever I put a challenge with a friend.

Yeah. Challenge modes are fun for some people, but not for me. Completionists really have to get used to it though since most games have at least an achievement where you have to beat the game on the highest setting. That would require a mastery of the game not just skill, but knowing how to dodge/evade as well since you can't just march in there and swing until everybody's down. Harder difficulties make it more difficult since every enemy packs a nasty punch.

I also feel that it's both. When I started gaming, I used to play for the fun of it,but nowadays I'm finding more fullfiment in encountering difficulties in a game and overcoming them.

It was with GTA I did use most of the cheats also. I also didn't bother about the story then. Unlike you, I have not try replaying it without cheat, maybe I will try it someday

Definitely try it when you have the time! All GTA titles had wonderful storyline and you can really see how each game are related to each other. I didn't even know they are somehow all "related". I had fun during my playthrough :D

I will try and create time to have it replayed without cheat soon. I'm mostly occupied now.
Yeah, GTA has good storylines, their storylines was what attracted me to playing it at the first place.

Actually challenging game could fun. The game will get easily boring if there is no challenge, if there's no feel adrenaline rush while playing it so why playing it at all. But if the game is too difficult, then it gets tiring and no fun again. So for me I look to get a balance between both. I know it sounds like eating you fake and have it.But I will like to get challenging and fun.

Depends on the game and how the difficulty is set. Is the game hard because you need a lot of skill to beat it? Or is it hard because of some pre-set win conditions which will make game glitch out so you can't reach them unless you do certain things?

I still prefer fun though. Games like Tomb Raider and Uncharted are my current favorites and I just set the difficulty on easiest for both. I just want to relax, shot some guys a bit, climb a little, solve some puzzles, and most importantly, have fun. I'm not having fun if I constantly get killed.

That is the thing, if I get consistently defeated I will not derive any fun with the game anymore. It is not bad if I get shot at or even got killed May be once. But the moment I start to loose at a particular stage over and over, then that's it for me. It becomes difficult, that's how I define difficult from fun.

Yeah, and that's the difficulty derived from frustration and that's equally annoying. That's what the difficulty setting is for. I feel you though. So many games I gave up when I was younger when I got stuck at a certain stage.
