Cardio and losing fats aren't the only things that define a sport. Most sports are Cardio intensive, like running. Some sports like horse racing or shooting aren't Cardio intensive. But what makes playing video games a sport is the psychological aspect of competition. Just like chess, playing counter strike requires huge amounts of strategic thinking. Just like football, playing counter strike requires alot of team play. Just like shooting, it requires precision. Finally just like fencing it requires quick response time.
On the topic of cheating, any competition that involves money you will find people try to cheat to win.
Well, that too. You know what, when the pool started getting bigger and bigger in these competitions, that's when people try to do whatever it takes to win. Small tournaments are just for people to show off their skill and dedication to the game. The bigger ones, with millions of dollars at the pot, would really bring out the worse in people. Cheating, slander off the game, blackmail and all that. It's a good game on paper but when there's a lot of money involved - and it is a lot of money - then people would rather go the more guaranteed route than relying on hard work alone.

Same, who isn't really. You work really hard to achieve something then someone gets it in a few minutes with cheats...ruins the fun of the game for everyone playing by the rules

Whatever it takes to win a video game. I'm a gamer through and through, and I don't even think it's close to physical intensive sport. You literally just sit on your ass all day playing a game to get better. Your cardio doesn't go up, you don't get thinner, you don't gain muscles. It's just a game. How people would go out of their way to cheat on a video game is just ridiculous.

Also, nice profile pic and name :D

Haha. Thank you.

Yeah, when I first read the article saying that competitive video gamers were taking concentration improving drugs, I thought that was one of those parody articles. The whole line of thinking is so ridiculous and messed up. As far as I know, none of my hardcore gaming friends and coworkers in real life even think about it and none of them even condone these practices. I also can't believe how widespread these practices are. Hmm, when do people start to think that this is a real problem (or cheating in general as I believe the efforts to deter cheaters have been relatively tame in my opinion).

The game devs only care about the money they make off of custom gloves and gun designs. They don't care who cheats and who don't in their online games, unless it's a highly publicized event like a World Tournament or something. A nothing ranked match online happens thousands of times at any given moment because of their popularity, so cheating players in maybe a hundred out of the thousand matches per instance won't be as important as say cheating in a major league tournament with their company's name on the line.

Wow, cheating goes unpunished to such extents? I mean we discussed the reasons behind cheating extensively here but are the people in charge so unwilling to do something about the mater? I thought they were constantly keeping an eye out and developing upgrades to fight cheating. Are they really in it only for the money? It would make a lot of sense given how many cheaters we see around.

It's like common knowledge for players who have been there a while. Map hacks, auto-aims, auto head shots, etc. People will cheat the system so their gaming account would look great at the high end of the list. It's a thing and there's no point reporting suspected cheaters because nobody would care. It's just one game out of a thousand per hour, nobody at the game company would care.

Cheaters do get annoying and that's what they try to do so I usually just try to ignore it or just leave the game because playing against a cheater is not fun at all.

Damn buddy. I thought the least they did was pretend to be worried about it. Didn't know it was so ignored like that. The more I see the more I prefer offline games altogether..

Well they can add features like having one mobile for each account while playing ranked, but that doesn't really help anything. People will still buy accounts to boost them, lazier (and honestly more noob) players will hire people to boost their accounts so they can brag about being 5k MMR or something to their friends. Genius. But hey, people actually get paid for this, so on the other end of the spectrum you see players being hired to play games and get paid for it. Not a bad way to earn extra cash if you ask me.

Very much so The problem with all cool jobs is that they're all taken. If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. That's why I play poker. You can make money and still have fun!

Poker is more of chance and I hate that sort of thing. Anything that doesn't involve at least majority of effort and skill, and would have to rely a lot on luck of the draw is a no-no for me. Also games are pretty short so it's not like it's time consuming.

We all do my friend. I quit competitive matches after i reach LEM everytime. it's either you play with a cheater or a really good player. but most of the time i've played with cheater, how? like blantant cheaters that will annoy you. boosting their friends or giving a boosting service. Imagine them shooting at your from a place you don't know. Sometimes behind doors sometimes god knows where. but you'll end up insta death and no kills. Valve should take care of those. but i think they can't there's too many of them, unless they implement a really agressive Anti-Cheat like Battle-Eye

I honestly don't even see the point of playing a game in which there's no real challenge for you. It's not even really competitive when you cheat. I just don't understand. Maybe it's a "show-off" thing, but why dedicate your time to a game if all you want is to show off a skill you don't have? It always annoyed me, and I could just never wrap my head around it. It just ruins the whole point of the game, why would you even play if you make everything easy and basically already done for you?

If you sell CS:GO items, you can make a nice amount of money.Thats why cheaters do cheat.
Counter strike series has always been a hackable game.I got problems since 1.6 version appeared.
Not fun being killed after 1 minute or even less by a cheater and after to wait 5-10 minutes for the match to finish.
No skill involved then..Maybe its for growing their Steam account level for achievements.
Selling Steam accounts is a real business.

I think game makers need to crack down on cheaters, especially in any cases where money is involved. If you let them continue or just give a slap on the wrist, it makes the entire competition aspect into a big joke. Why let them get away with it? It hurts the company's reputation as well, and it shouldn't be allowed.

Even when it's not for a money prize, players get really annoyed when they have to face cheaters all the time. It's a good way to lose customers.

Honesty there's nothing you can do and there are cheaters in every game. But trust me sooner or later they are going to get VAC banned and they are going to be crying on the Steam forums saying their account got hacked or their friend did it. If I were you I would just ignore the cheaters and play the game and don't let the cheaters ruin your fun.

i had a friend who is using a 3PP . he never got a VAC. the cheat he was using is undetectable. one of the reason is , its a private hack. so if you request or pay someone to make a private one, it will be always undetected. What i think is VAC should make a secondary Game guard like Battle Eye. Battle eye has strong and aggressive way of detecting cheaters. it's also auto-ban and the worst case, HWID or IP BAN

Back in the days, there was a lot of cheaters but now I think Valve has finally done something about it because I've noticed decreasing amount of them on the matchmaking games. Maybe they changed something about the VAC system which makes it harder for cheaters to pass thorough it.
