On GameBoy... agree with most, definitely the Pokemon games.
It's like the defining game for the GameBoy. They released lots of Pokemon games for a long time on that device that even the remaster of the originals, Leaf Green and Fire Red, were still on the GBA for the players to use. It was a fun game franchise but I think they ran out of ideas long ago, seeing as how the newer Pokemon look like everyday items with eyes on them.

I didn't have all too many Game Boy games growing up, and I only began playing with the release of the Game Boy Advance. In any case, the first games that come to mind are the Pokémon games, as many have already said. My favorite of the series has to be Fire Red, but I was a huge fan of Emerald as well. I actually played all of the variations but those were my favorite.

Besides the Pokémon series I recall enjoying the Mega Man Battle Network series, as well as obsessively playing Super Mario Advance 4, which was the GBA remake of Super Mario Bros. 3.

Gameboy was the first console that I ever bought. I love to play all the games of Gameboy but a few of those are my favorite. I love to play Mario, Contra, and side pocket the most. I use to play Gameboy for the whole day and I never got bored from it.

Besides the entire Pokemon franchise? I think the Disney RPGs were pretty cool. Wasted many hours as a teen on Aladdin. Also, Metal Slug!!!!

I'm going to have to echo the "Wario Land" statements made by others in this thread. What a game! It had great music and a deceptively deep control scheme which allowed for a pretty enjoyable range of possibilities for a platformer. The money collection mechanic also lent a lot of replayability to it for me since I'm a compulsive collector. That genie at the end may have been greedy, but I was greedier and I was going to have my castle! I keep hoping to see a Wario Land remaster one of these days.

I loved my old gameboy! It was shiny blue and I played it for years until it finally got lost forever. My favorite games of all time were Pokémon Leaf Green (I logged 300+ hours on that game and raised like 10 pokémon to level 100 with zero cheats!) and Final Fantasy V. The DS was a pretty good upgrade and some of the games were great, like Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, but the 3DS seemed like a gimmicky ripoff to me.

Tetris is such an iconic, historic and classic game that, for me anyway, it's undisputed that that was my favourite GameBoy game.

Lunar Legend was my first actual RPG when I was a kid. Still one of my favorite games so far, even if the GBA port wasn't considered to be very good.

I love the original Metroid on the original Gameboy. Back then Nintendo had a Nintendo Power number that you could call for game tips. And I got stuck and called the number and my parents grounded me for a week for calling LOL. But at least I got past the part that I was stuck on LOL.

All the Pokemon games, no doubt about it.
They'll never bring back the Gameboy, the Nintendo DS was pretty much the upgraded version of the Gameboy hence why it was discontinued.
I agree. Pokemon yellow was my first game in gameboy, this is how I started my addiction into gaming. After finishing pokemon i immediately purchased pokemon red and it did not disappoint me. These two are my favorite game in gameboy.

By far the Pokemon games were my favorite and most played games on the gameboy. My first Pokemon game was Ruby so that game will always be near and dear to me and be one of my favorite Pokemon games ever.

f we're talking about the original Gameboy/Gameboy Color, then I'll go with Pokémon Crystal. Definitely the most content-filled and entertaining Pokémon game on both systems. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages are both very good games, they're incredibly polished as GB games.
As for the GBA, Mother 3, Metroid: Zero Mission and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones all get on the podium. Honorable mention to Pokémon Emerald, though. It was to Sapphire and Ruby what Crystal was to Gold and Silver, so... you can say it was pretty darn good.

My absolute favorite game for the original Gameboy is Super Mario Land 2. It was technically my sister's game, but I played it SO much. It's available on the virtual console on the 3DS, so I bought it recently and played it some. I'm totally out of practice, lol. But there's this one stage that has something to do with toys I guess? Anyway, I still have like..perfect muscle memory from playing that stage over and over :tearsofjoy:

You know, even though I said Wario Land earlier, this particular title holds a very special place in my heart. It was the Mario game that got away for me. I never had it as a kid and I was an absolute Mario nut. My cousin had it though and we would spend hours when I went to visit her trying to beat it. I eventually did take down Wario one time and that was kind of the end of that. But those precious childhood moments have stuck with me all these years. I can see the room and hear the sounds so much more vividly when I think about those memories.
