Yep, I always look for deals all the time and when it's on sale at an good price then I buy it. Isn't just steam that I look at there are also other websites that does great steam keys deal. To be honsit aren't many games that I did paid full retail price
Yeah. Humblebundle too, and if you go to forums and gaming sites frequently they can even alert you on freebies during sales. That's how I got Limbo, Killing Floor, and Payday 2 all for free. I even got a lot of coupons over the years for free trial to games and all that. That's why it's always a good thing to just wait for the sales to arrive. You'll save a lot and regret less when buying.

I actually tend to dish out more money on game series like Battlefield and stuff like that. It also really depends on the hype and trailer on a video game. If it's outstanding, then I'm more likely to dish out money on a new release.

Yes I use that site and I also use steamgifts, yet I never win nothing from that site since I join back in the old days
Go to forums more lol. They'll tell you when there's a freebie in any legit site that gives out steam codes. Or even when the game on Steam is free itself. Free games, so free cards, which means you can either create a badge or sell them for more credit. It's like a new game outside the games; like a challenge on how you can maximize sales and save as much as possible without having to use your own money.

I do that anyway. I did won ATS and some good amount of DLCs that came with it over the years and I even listen to an radio station for ETS2 trucking and got an DLC.

I'm also an admin of another forum and I tend to do giveaway's also.. LOL I win games and then use the games to do my own giveaways. lol

Pretty clever lol. What's running a forum like? Is it more of a headache than it's worth? I've always wanted to start my own site/forum about anything but I figured I'd lose interest sooner or later and if I ever pay someone to make the site, it would just be a waste of money and time.

I buy most of my games on discount. I'm cheap as hell and I don't like splurging $60 on an AAA game. I'd much rather wait for a couple of months to get it at half price than buy it from the first day.

I almost always buy on discount or sale. Humblebundle and Indiegala are good sites to get a bunch of games for really cheap. The Steam sales are also really good. I bought some decent games for cheap in the past Summer Sale, like Stardew Valley for like $5. The only game I've paid full price for in the past few years is Star Wars Battlefront. And I'll probably be paying full price for the upcoming Battlefront II just because that's how much I love the game.

I only pre-ordered once in my life. Civ 6. The hype was real. I had hundreds of hours playing Civ 3 as a kid, and I had 300+ hours clocked on Civ 5 before Civ 6 got announced. So of course I got it. Opening day, I already had it downloaded; only waiting for the game to unlock. Played it for an hour. Refunded it and got I think $60 back into my Steam account. Worst game ever, too many changes from the old games. Never touched pre-orders ever again, and I just dodged a bullet since I was nearly over the 2 hour refund limit.
True. Pre-ordering isn't always the best route. You don't really have a clue what you are getting yourself into at times. However, I will admit that if there is a good deal or something extra that comes with the pre-order, I am more inclined to make a purchase.

Being a very thrifty person, I really try my best to not get tempted buying a game unless it's on sale. During sales though (Cyber Monday Steam, praise Gaben) I help myself to a lot of games I have on my wish list for quite some time already. But, if it's something I'm really hyped up and excited to play, I preorder it to also get preorder bonuses they offer.

I am happy to wait for the games I want to go on sale a year or more after release. The only games I get "pre-orderey" about these days are the two or three online games I am passionate about. You frequently need to be there from the beginning to be successful since your performance depends on the performance of others. When that first big wave of early adopters moves past the content, you are just left holding the stick if you weren't with them and progression becomes twice as difficult.

Depends what the game is. Games like Grand Theft Auto or FIFA, I always tend to pre-order it no matter what the price (well I make sure to find the cheapest price of course) so it will always be new. I don't really buy pre-owned games either because I like to have everything new. Plus with newly released games, the price difference between pre-owned games and brand new games is so little that you might as well just get the brand new one. I don't tend to wait for discounts to come out, if I want a game then I just make sure to find the cheapest deal and then buy it.

I am a HUGE believer in wait for a discount. I have over 100 PS4 games and over 250+ PC games and I bought almost all of them on a discount. Now I know what you might be thinking hey that guy is a cheapskate. But that is far from the truth. I am just a smart shopper and I make my bottom dollar go further and that's the reason why I have so many games.

All you have to do is wait one month, two months tops and you're going to get $20 off of 99% of the games. Because publishers know that most people are going to want to wait for a sale. And if you can hold off until six months after release you're going to be able to find 99% of the games for $19.99 ~$29.99.

It's a maturity thing, too. When you're younger there's a social pressure to keep up with the group. You don't want to be the guy talking about last year's game-of-the-year title when everyone else has moved on to the new big thing. As you get older and become more of a truly independent person that type of vanity loses its significance, freeing you to make sound decisions. I have a huge collection of new-to-me titles that are still waiting to be played and there's a backlog of probably two or three years waiting for me to have the spare cash to pick them up. Thanks to frugal purchasing I always have enough money and entertainment to suit me. The trouble is finding the time!

That's true on so many levels. I definitely had a weakness towards impulsive purchases when I was younger, due to both your typical deal rush (Steam still had flash and daily deals during the Summer/Winter Sales) and the social pressure of keeping up with the latest trends and games to play with your peers. I don't care about it anymore nowadays. I have no problem waiting for deals (I probably only buy a game if there's a discount on it), or even simply waiting months or an entire year to waif for the price to come down. It makes me feel less guilty about spending money on it.

Honestly I can't imagine buying games that aren't discounted. If anything I do tend to pre-order limited editions (because I'm a sucker), but Amazon does run little pre-order discounts that are pretty nice. At least they make me feel like it's worth the purchase.

Humblebundle I love too, but I tend to get too excited about their bundles. I have a ton of unplayed games sitting on Steam now that I feel like I'll never get to, which is kind of frustrating. I also feel like I'm less excited for playing a game if I got it in a bundle / less inclined to give it a really good try, just because I'd still have so many new options to try.

You need to know what you are doing and have good amount of knowledge on the front and back end, and also server end. Like dealing with DNS and emailing and error on the server.

Yet again with WordPress and other free software, they made it so easy now. Link in my sig

It's not about being a cheapskate. It's about not having buyer's remorse and having all the games you want. It's a lot easier to wait for sales and pay for a game at $5 than buy it immediately at $20. It's just common sense. Why pay for that much when you can pay for less? That way, you can use the remaining money for other games in your wishlist.

Yup, learned my lesson. Won't buy a game now unless it's a sale and the game at least has a 50% discount. I'll check reviews too on Steam, the approval rating, I'll watch Youtube clips, then I'll purchase it when I like it. I'll play it for about an hour and if I have regrets, I'll just ask a refund. Win-win situation.

Barry Schwartz calls this the paradox of choice. The more options you have the less you tend to take advantage of it. It leads to a sort of paralysis where you get stuck in the act of choosing and never get the the thing you've chosen. Emulators were like that for me. I have full sets for the old 8 and 16bit consoles of my youth. I figured it would be great to have so I can let my old hardware enjoy a comfortable retirement. But I found every time I sat down to play them I spent an inordinate amount of time in the menu searching for something to play from literally thousands of titles. Even stranger was that even when I did finally settle on a choice, if I died a few times I was right back in that menu. I'd never had more games and yet played so little.
