How do you choose your games?

I don't get bored from playing first person shooters games, well, I just find it adventurous and especially while online, also The missions aren't boring in anyway..they are all different, not because they are all shooting games that they are the same. Well no they are not the same.

Steam luckily does offer refunds so even after all that, if the game sucks, you can always get your money back.

I just base whether I get the game or not based on both user ratings and the reviews themselves. Gamers who rate have nothing to gain so they can be pretty honest about what they like and don't like about the game. IGN or Forbes or whatever may as well be paid off by the game companies to leave a good review for advertising's sake. Can't really trust that, and it's better to get more than one person's opinion on the matter. Majority rules, after all.

Fair enough. I guess it's just not my cup of tea. I'm more for adventure games that has a large map you can play on, instead of fixed levels where you can't go back to the previous ones once the objectives have been met. It's all about exploration for me and a non-linear gameplay; but I agree it's not for everyone. It's just that FPS games seem a bit too scripted for my taste.

FPS games in my opinion tend to have the most replay value. This is especially the case with online multiplayer shooters as they are a lot more competitive and you alway strive to become number one or hone your skills against other players. And in games like Warface or COD you want to always keep playing so that you can unlock new weapons, armor, skins, e.t.c so there is that constant urge to come back and put in another 100 hours and before you know it you've clocked quadruple digit playtimes. Such is the way of modern multiplayer gaming...

Steam reviews are important for me when I'm choosing a game. If I'm spending money on something I would like to buy a quality product that others enjoy as well, so other people's opinions matter a lot for me.
When it comes to free games I just try them out since there's no risk involved.

Most of the time I go with the recommendation from my trusted gamer friend circle. Other than that I do watch game trailers, and if there are games which are from my favorite game series, then I just go and buy it. Most of the games I buy are FPS games only. I can try a newly launched game if it's an FPS game.

Another way i choose a game which i recently adapt, this will only work if the game is free, is to just try it. If it clicks of you, continue playing. If not, so sad. Next game please

I'm not a huge fan of FPS games either, but there are some open-world (well, open enough, at least) FPSs out there. Borderlands is the first to come to mind (it has a...very particular style), it's hilarious and it's got nice RPG elements, so it has a decent gameplay depth; however, if you're a fan of exploration you must try out Metroid Prime (the first one is on Gamecube, so you could easily emulate it with a good rig). The atmosphere is top notch even if you're not a sci-fi fan (well, I am, so I may be a bit biased), the gameplay itself is amazing and is focused on weapon upgrades (which are not mere powered up versions of the same weapon), it's constantly evolving.
I'm just gonna skip over all those survival FPSs, because, well...they might technically classify, but I find their lack of character boring. Borderlands and Metroid Prime are both games you're going to remember.

Well I usually watch the trailers and developer interviews. I look out for the gameplay and possible flaws that I can spot personally. Then I look out for the reviews and if everything seems worth the buy then I go right ahead without wasting another second.

Oh, you're right! I forgot that multiplayer can also be a dealbreaker for me in some cases.

I'm personally not a fan of in-app purchases either. Though I do entertain them every once in a while.

Usually take for example last game I got which was Civ V with all the DLC. I waited till it was cheap to get it, but it was still relevant to be played for the future. That is how you make it to where you will never spend a lot, but can still have fun.

For example the next Battlefront for Star Wars, if it is good, then I will wait maybe 4 months for it to be on sale during Christmas for lower price and then buy it up. But if it happens to not be good, I wouldn't have wasted my time playing it, nor the money for preorder.

I also lurk in the Free to Play area to find out what genres I like, but then narrow the list by trial and error if them can actually run smoothly on my potato. I learned the hard way that chasing sales without noting the specs recommended is not great.

Yes,it is us who has the power to decide.The quote says'Customer is the king'.We see reviews to see the different perspective of people about the game that help us to make proper decision.It is important not decisive but helpful.

Yes, you are right. Everything depends on our mood.The game stressed out our tension and fatigue.It would not always PC gaming or PS gaming.We can have traditional game like chess,ludo,snakes and ladders inside our house with our loved ones.Outdoor games are much important to indoor games.As they give us complete exercise and satisfaction of playing.

Oh man, I was thinking of getting Far Cry 3 or The Forest, both of which are survival FPS if I'm not mistaken. What's so bad about them? It can't be that bad considering it's a mix of both FPS and the horror genre? What do you think of the 2 games I mentioned?

Me as well. I have the Killing Floor, Payday 2, Limbo, and Life is Strange on my Steam library because I got all of them for free. I haven't played any of them yet but hey, they were free and you really can't say no to that, no matter how little you know about the games and stuff.

Well, there is nothing inherently wrong with them, but it's a very popular genre and the store has been flooded with Early Access games of the likes (really alike).
Far Cry 3 is a big exception I forgot to mention. I guess a lot of survival FPSs have taken inspiration from it, alongside the other games that started the trend, like DayZ, but that doesn't influence the product's quality at all. The plot and the characters are both really good, and they definitely make a difference.
Umh, as for The Forest, I'll admit I've only heard rumors about it, but it looks like more of the same to me. It looks more polished, and that's something all those DayZ clones lack, but I can't really speak for the game's quality.

What a nice selection you got there, congrats! The only game from your list I haven't got to try is Killing Floor, but the rest are really awesome titles. Life is Strange is probably one of the best Steam games out there, it's going to keep you hooked for a while.
