Excess exposure to screen can cause blurring of vision and watering from eyes as well. This is mainly the result of overstrained eyes.

How often do you experience this? Do you then limit your game time then?

I used to experience eye straining too, the obvious reason for this is staring at the screen for a long time especially when dark . eye strains can also lead to head aches, fortunately I have figured out a solution for this and I m sure it will workout for every body. What we can do is while gaming when we feel that our eyes are getting strained but we don't want to stop playing, just pull out your shades and continue playing with the shades on. It really helps.

As I'm always staying on my PC, close to my monitor for hours on end, I find it hard to then pick up my Xbox controller and sit a distance away from the TV without squinting or my eyes straining a bit. Been to the opticians and my eyesight is apparently perfect, so it's all down to my gaming habits and sitting to close to my monitor. My eyes don't tend to strain much though, unless I'm extremely tired.

I started gaming around the age of seven or eight, and around the end of third grade, I had to get glasses. My vision is still getting worse. :p I'd love to use sunglasses, but that's kind of hard to do when I have actual glasses to wear.

Usually when I start to feel my eyes get heavy or I have to squint to focus that's the signal for me to stop. Don't want to end up like my brother. He got glasses when he was young because he went too ham on the video gaming.

I definitely get strained eyes. I already wear glasses as it is so my vision isn't perfect then add the bright screen on top of that and you get tired eyes. However, I did notice that if I focus very hard on the game that I am playing (mainly FPSs) my eyes get strained way faster than if it's a more relaxed RPG type of game. Maybe it's just me but I found that very interesting.

When I do feel that my eyes are getting strained, I sometimes just close them for a few minutes and it helps a lot. Also, an ice pad might help because it rests the muscles.

I spend lot of time on computer. So that does happen to me every now and then. Also some of the time it'd be odd to see how the games are going to bring nausea. It can make me move away from the computer. You can see that playing the games. I guess I have to reduce time spent on the forums too in that case.

I never thought of using shades to avoid eye strains and headaches. You are already living in the future lmao. I usually take a break and go outside for some fresh air.

I experience this sometimes, and when I do, I just take a break, stare at the wall for a few seconds, walk around or take a piss break, then I'm good. Sometimes, I adjust the brightness on my PC, the darker the better.

I sometimes experience it but it usually doesn't last too long. What often happens is that I'm playing a game that requires deep focus for an extended period of time, and when I look away from the screen during a break I find that everything farther than a meter from me is kind of blurry. My eyes just go out of focus for a certain distance, but after I rub them a bit it fixes itself.

Not sure how good that is for the long term, but overall I've had 20/20 vision my entire life despite being a gamer so it's alright for now.

I get bleary eyes when I have been on the PC for too long. I usually would take a break of about 15 - 30 minutes before going back. I do not like rubbing my eyes as that could scratch or damage my eyes. I make sure to open the lights when it is dark because it could also strain the eye.

Yes that happens to all even non gamers. When we are focused on what we are doing, we blink less making ours eyes dry. Unfortunately, with gamers, we are very much prone to this because, we blink less, our attention is at our monitor/screen, our eyes is strained more because of the constant movement focusing on different areas in our monitor.
So... After a good game, don't rub your eyes and don't wash your face immediately. Let it rest for a while.

I'm very conscious of my eye heath which is why I monitor the amount of time I spend looking at a screen. This extends into my career as well as I spend 7+ hours on my laptop daily.

For me, the key is scheduled breaks. If you learn to rest for small periods of time it adds up throughout the day, preventing eye fatigue and the feeling of eye strain. I also suggest vitamin and herbal supplements if you spend hours at a timing gaming to maintain eye health and protein production (collagen) within the eye itself.

Last but not least, a physical note. I found that if I put a physical note in my central vision with the word "BLINK" in capital letters, I generally tend to blink more often, eliminating the factor of dry eyes.

I've noticed that the older I get, the less time I can spend playing games in one sitting. It's exactly for this reason... My eyes are getting terribly weak. When I was younger, I could sit in a dark room right in front of the TV for hours. Now, I can last for about an hour or two. It has to be in a soft lit room.

Hi, well I don't only play games on my PC but also work on it so overall I spend most of most days in front of a screen and I have to say that the strain on my eyes can really slow me down. I find that taking a rest every so now and then can really help just to close your eyes and rest.

I rarely get my eyes strained only because I play games for hours and hours. More like, I rarely get my eyes strained, especially until my vision is blurred and my eyes hurt. I got my blurred vision from watching television closely, but definitely not because any kind of gaming. I also am able to feel if I or my eyes feel tired, and when I do I make myself rest because I'm fully aware of the results.

To begin, staring into an electronic device, without the proper room lighting is horrible for your eyes.

If your eyes are becoming terribly weak, I suggest looking towards herbal remedies to at least retain the eye strength you still have. You should research ingesting Vitamin A in tablet form. It' an unsaturated nutritional organic compound that specifically deals in regulating and maintaining eye health. Specifically, helping in the protein production of collagen within the connective tissue of your eyes. Vitamin C is also good to take in combination with "A", as they both activate each other within your system.

Growing up, I didn't suffer from weak eye strength. However, I spent many, many hours online that contributed to my eye strain. I learned that herbal remedies don't completely fix the problem. But aid in maintaining your eyesight (with chances for improvement also).

Playing with shades is a great idea. It will surely reduce the direct impact of screen light on the eyes. I will try it for sure and hope others will also benefit from it.

Strained eyes can happen to anyone with a normal eyesight or a damaged one. The strain is because of overworked eye muscles. Sitting away from the screen can help to reduce the strain but the best way is to take a break for some time and then continue gaming.

Eventually you'll end up getting glasses, yes. But this is only usually after years of strain and having a more ergonomic and suitable work/play environment for yourself will ultimately decrease the chances of this happening. I believe genetics also plays a role. I personally haven't reached the stage where I need glasses but I also haven't spent more than 6 hours per day looking at a screen for the most part. Keeping it at a lower brightness and ensuring that text is a legible size also helps. With gaming, just take a break and walk outside every now and then, you won't believe how much it will help.
