I think it sounds really good but I want to know if it's a pay to win game or an actual free to play. It doesn't help that I love star wars either 
Can someone give me a general description of the gameplay in this game?

The game is free to play, with an option to subscribe monthly. I believe the free to play version of the game gives you full access to the story content, however, several features such as in game activities, features and customer support are very limited. One of the things that is limited is experience rates to level up. Now this could be a problem if you severely dislike the grinding aspect to MMO's. The free to play version is a great trial for the game, and you don't have much to lose except your time and hard drive space.
When you start out you choose between the Republic and the Sith, with each class inside each faction favoring a certain style of attack. The classes include things from bounty hunters, to obviously Jedi and Sith warriors. I would say it is worth a play if you love Star Wars, and you even get your own spaceship in the game.

It sounds interesting, and I like the Star Wars theme. My husband was just talking about this the other day. I have to wonder if it is still worth playing though. Is there much of a community left? Is there a big divide between free players and those who sub?
I guess it's worth a go if you start out free. You can always switch to paid, right? How grindy is it if you don't pay? I don't mind some grind but nothing too crazy.

Hiii Well you said It all so I'll just add some few words here, My faction is usually The republic and the focus here is to take back what's lost throuh planning and tenacity , The cinematic of this game is Increadible.

It's pretty much like Mass Effect with light sabers and I'm not complaining. It really serves the game well and it's really fun and cool to watch jedi parrying blaster fire. The storyline is rich especially when you're playing Sith. There's a lot of possibilities in game, for example, you play a Sith Lord and yet be a good guy. A jedi with Dark side tendencies and those decisions that you make will ultimately affect the quests, abilities and the finale of the story. There's no other MMO game as well thought as this one. So instead of WoW, I recommend playing SWOTR instead. You'll never get tired playing this game and you will never have to pay.

Well, it's pretty much like any other MMORPG out there. You have a character, you meet people, get in a guild, do some missions, level up and get skills, items. Get stronger, Travel, a lot. What bores me in MMORPG games is that they get repetitive fast. And the quests are pretty much the same. It is worth giving it a try though, might be fun for you. If you enjoy unlocking things and traveling long distances, then it will be great for you. And hey, it is a Star Wars universe, so that is a plus.
