Do you spend money on gaming gear?

I highly agree with you, we actually share the same thinking, there's no need of having any kind of special equipment or gear when you can use the average mouse/keyboard to win as many matches and games as you want, it's really nice that you think that way, good luck!

It depends. If you're playing games casually, there really isn't any need for it. However, if you're really trying to get better (i.e. in Counter-Strike), it might something worth considering.
For me it was. Playing with a 5$ mouse didn't really cut it for me. Not only because the thing wasn't very capable of much, but also because I felt it might be hindering me more than I realized. So I went and bought myself a Zowie FK2. And honestly, it helps immensely. The higher polling rate really makes it feel smoother, and spinning the sensor out due to flicking too hard, became a thing of the past.

This isn't always what you should do, though. If you think better gear might be helping you, you should know exactly why it would. Otherwise, you might just be wasting your money.

Yes it's cool. Most people start playing this way and some move on to something else but for me, I just like the feel of the mouse and keyboard. I do play on a console every once in a while but it just doesn't feel the same.

Playing with a console will always feel different, especially if you already got used to play with the mouse + keyboard combination. It really is a complicated thing to balance since you know how to use one more than the other, but everything is possible, of course.

That is true but it goes further then that while with a console you probably siting on the couch in the case of a pc you have to sit at a desk. It gives a game a completely different feel.

I do buy gaming gear, but it is not often when I do it. I tend to stay with what I bought until they no longer work, or until they feel a bit outdated. Most of the time is until they no longer work. I feel it saves me more money than when they require an update. For example, I've had my mouse for around 5 years, and I still use it these days.

I'm a PC gamer, but I am thinking about buying a new gen console since PC parts have gotten really expensive nowadays, consoles are cheaper, but games are a little bit more expensive.

I buy gear for gaming, but tend to shy away from "gaming gear." If it's advertised as gaming gear, you have to be really careful to actually look at the specs to see if it's really as good as they claim. For example, if buying a headset mic combo for PC, you could sink 60 to 300 dollars into it for a "gaming headset." I needed new headphones for Counter-Strike a while back, and when I did some research, I found out that most of the "gaming headsets" actually have sub par headphones in them. You can actually buy better headphones in the 30 to 50 dollar range than the headphones in headsets as expensive as 150 to 200 dollars. So I ended up getting a nice pair of headphones, and I then bought a microphone separately. Cost me about 60 dollars total (I spent more than I needed to on a mic), and the quality so far has a been a lot better than my last headset.

One of the best mousepads I've ever used is actually a playmat for Magic the gathering. Get creative and see what you can find if you're gaming on a budget like I am.

You're absolutely right, but as we all know, there are people who definitely like buying the most expensive stuf because that makes them think these expensive items are way beter than the cheapest one, which is kind of a lie, but if they have the money and they want to buy their stuff, they can just do it, it's their money

The only time I ever spent money on gaming gear was when I was younger and into competitive gaming. I had bought a used scuf controller on ebay and after a few months me and my team had one small tournament and each won $200 so I bought a new scuf and some kontrol freaks.

I'm guilty of buying gaming gear but the things that I do buy I use for many years.

My mouse is roughly 110 euros (because it's gaming wireless), keyboard 130 euros and my headphones around 80 euros.

I've been using the same mouse for almost six years now... so divide that by the price and you will see it isn't bad. I don't get new gear every month. I'm not a millionaire.

I don't own a gaming chair though. I prefer those comfy, big office chairs.

I never bought any of this gear just because it's ''gaming'' or because I'd assume it would make me play better vs less pricey options. I got it because I enjoy using it and I like the features and comfort it provides.

I'm with Gladdy here - I didn't buy any of my 'gaming' gear because it was gaming gear, but because the price was right (usually on sale) and I needed a durability upgrade. My family conditioned me to buy basically the cheapest you can get, and that turned into a practically yearly tax of cheap keyboards, mice, and headphones. I have a gaming mouse that has lasted me for six years, and have only had to replace the headphones once. I wound up buying a gaming keyboard on sale because I was playing games that needed higher rollover and fell in love with the mechanical clickiness compared to your standard mushy cheapo keyboard.

The stuff's not gonna make you a better gamer, but there are a lot of creature comforts and I've appreciated not needing to rebuy crap regularly.

But only if I was truly interested in the game and the gear would actually serve a purpose.

I don't need to upgrade, as long as everything is running right and I'm comfortable, I don't need to buy 240$ mouse and these expensive things, Just normal mouse, keyboard, headphones and good PC and just play and everything will be good.

I don't spend too much money on gaming accessories, just enough to be able to play, so I have a $60 mechanical keyboard and a $20 headset and mouse which is all I need. I don't really get the appeal of the "elite" gaming gear since its basically the same as regular accessories to me.

I have to say they offer you some comfort but wont change drastically the way you play, I own a gaming keyboard and a gaming mouse, both of them have extra keys that I can configure to anything I want and I can assure you it does get more comfortable when it comes to voice lines or keyboard commands that help you communicate with the team, but nothing too vital, most of the features come useful outside of games too, I love coding with this keyboard because Ive set some characters to the extra keys that help me write faster.

I rarely buy anything gaming gear wise. The closet thing is maybe cool keyboards and stuff, but I usually don't spend more than like $20-$30 bucks on it. Otherwise, there isn't anything else I'd buy gaming gear wise.

I usually play more on PC, so whenever I can I invest in improvements on my computer. My latest acquisition was a new 22-inch monitor.
This year I still want to buy a new video card and make my PC even better.

I really would like to be that kind of gamer, that dedicated. But in truth a barely make time for gaming as is and can't afford to become that guy. Getting equipment is and investment in time and money that I just don't have. One day I'll be in a position to do so but I don't think I will do it even then. I say that, but 3-D gaming looks like it could be amazing. Time will tell.
