Whats your Favourite Type of Game?

I love hack-n-slash games or shoot-em-up style games. just rapid attacking and gaining better gear and weapons/equipment. Fighting and fighting, clicking non-stop, full of action. Not too hard till you keep dying, not too easy that it becomes boring due to your OPness. I like those that require some strategy and exploration, not just blind clicking.

My favorite kind of game are computer role playing games (CRPG), but only the good ones, like planescape torment, geneforge, Gothic I & II, classic Fallout, New Vegas, Divine Divinity, Baldur's gate etc. Every of them offers at least some focus into immersion and world reactivity, coupled with a decent story with coherent and unique characters with their own agenda and motivations. I'm also fan of Bethesda Elder scroll, but many times their games ended up like a hiking simulator instead of a RPG.

Well, @Steamroller - I have to say thank you because now I have a new list of games to look up. I have heard of some of those but really do not know much about them at all, but just seeing you call them the good ones and single them out gives me a feeling that they worth looking into. This is not my area of expertise, but I have been looking for new types of games so these look appealing. Thanks again.

Well, when it comes to determining what kind of games I like, I personally think I'm way more into FPS gaming, it's basically the kind of game I would please to play for hours and never get bored of it, everything started when I first played Counter-Strike, it was love at first sight, despite that, I still keep that love alive nowadays.
I basically prefer FPS over any other kind of game, but it does not mean I do not like other games as well, it's like everything in life, you might have a lot of options but you will only love one of them.

Definitely MMO's or RPG's. Really got into RPG's when i first started playing Final Fantasy 8 so many moons ago. And then of course when i discovered WOW it kind of just blew up more from there. I do also like playing sports games though like Madden football, College Basketball, or FIFA Soccer.

I like quiz games and any game where I have to solve some kind of puzzles to get to the prize. I also love racing games and all things fast. I don't really know about all the different genres of games, I just know what I grew up playing, and I've got to say, I am not against trying new games and possibly finding a new favorite kind of game.

I love adventure games so much like GTA San Andreas, it's really fun to play, and also games like Neo Geos, Metal Slug - the whole series. Lots of games could be mentioned here, but you get the point. The games just make me feel really good, and it's a nice time passer.

Well, I somehow agree with your tastes, I actually forgot to mention adventure games as well, I used to play that kind of games back then when I had my PSone, it was really amazing to play Crash Bandicoot or Spyro games as well, those were just really awesome, I wish they still made games like those, indeed.

My favorite type of a game would have to be simulation or an free roam RPG. I like being able to do my own thing instead of just being able to play a story mode.

I love fighting and adventure and gore.
My true love is with any game that is story driven.
The game has to make me care about it.
As well as tell Amazing or decent story.
That's not to say I haven't played games that aren't like that.
But that's my favorite story-driven video games.

my favorite type of game is sports games , mainly NBA and Madden. I'm a long time fan of sports, and it's fun to play the newest sports game when they come out, and the online competition makes sports game even that much more fun. the down side to sports games is that I have to buy a new game every year, as trades and drafts take place, but other than that sports gaming is my thing.

My favorite depends on my mood, haha. It's either FPS or RPG. I especially enjoy RPG's with survival or post-apocalyptic environment - if anybody played the State of Decay? that sort of game is golden. Or maybe Miscreated but that's multiplayer so it's a bit different, less RPG more survival based.

I play too many genres though. I'm not very picky just as long as I'm enjoying it and having fun.

Put them together and what have you got? MMORPG, my favorite. I'm an old WoW player as well. I never had so much fun as I did in the earlier days of this game. I think it ruined me for other stuff, ha ha.

I play a few console games, but mostly just to do something with my kids or my husband. Sports games aren't my favorite, but some of them are kind of fun. We used to have family "Cool Boarders" contests back in the day. It's actually still a fun game and we break it out from time to time.

It would be cool if I could find a good, new, sports game for my husband. I'm thinking football or hockey (as someone suggested).

My favorite type of game is a fighting game. I'm a HUGE fan of Tekken. I've been playing Tekken since '96. Any tekken fans here?? Anyways, I've been really keeping tabs on Tekken 7. Since Tekken 6, I've been a zafina fan. I hope that Namco would include her in the roster. I think she's a very unique character with an amazing move set that can be tweaked. No one in the Tekken series fights like her. So It would be a shame if she doesn't make it.

Can you recommend any? I'd really like to find a new game to get into. I've seen a couple that sound good, but a lot of them seem to be kind of dead these days. Are there some good ones that are still popular enough to find other people to play with?

I hate being a newb at a game, but it's even worse when all the starting zones are empty. I'd at least like to know that I'll see some other people along the way.

I prefer to play games that require more of strategy than dexterity. Games of dexterity like Pacman are not enjoyable to play because of the pressure. It's like you are playing against time. Maybe that's why I enjoyed NBA because of the strategy and of course it's fun to play with someone.

If I had to pick a single adjective, it'd probably be 'retro'. I like nearly every genre, but the most consistently fantastic are the ol' sidescrolling platformers, and especially their newer incarnations. Shovel Knight, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and all the old Nintendo standbys. Within that subset are the true Metroidvanias, which have fewer truly great new incarnations. I know there's a few more, but Valdis Story is the only one coming immediately to mind. I do need to pick up Axiom Verge sometime
