Yep, although I never had membership PLUS I never knew what I was doing haha so I never really experienced the game in its entirety. So now that I'm able to pay for my own membership and I know what I'm doing (kinda), I can finally experience everything OSRS has to offer.

It was that way for everyone at some point I think. I started with RSC and the very first time a left Lumbridge, someone told me I "needed matches to make a fire" and that "you have to kill guards to get them". The guards killed me and he got all my stuff so I stayed in Lumbridge for months before actually leaving.
