Well, the paycheck dropped today and I sort of find myself wanting to play a horror type game, preferably with zombies. And I haven't played an fps/tps in awhile, and it's been some time since I had a game like Left 4 Dead and the sequel to fucking play or something.

Listen, I'm open to all of your suggestions, and maybe we can even use this little thread as a sort of catalyst for discussion about games like these.

Thank you everyone!

Even tough there are still some issues and bugs here and there I guess Z1H1 is a valuable game that must be played if you like this type of genre. It has all the things that you want in survival game: suspense, skilss and a lot of fun while trying to survive the zombies waves and other players hunting missions! Feel free to PM me if you want to play it with someone, I usually play it in the weekend as I work the other days ^^

I have to disagree, H1Z1 is a nightmare of a game. Not to mention your paying SOE(the biggest con artist of them all) to test their game for you so others can play it free. Wait a year and the game will be out for free anyway. Honestly go through steams TAG list for zombie, it'll list quite a few with positive reviews.

Call of Duty had a really good Zombies thing going on, especially in World at War but err... i'm not in to the Zombies FPS games.

Are you looking for games that are brand new specifically, or just games in this genre in general that you haven't played yet? It is about 2 years old now, but The Last Of Us was amazing.

For single player or casual co-op I'd strongly recommend Dying Light. Night time with a buddy will really have you on your toes. For arcade-like shoot-em-up I'd recommend Killing Floor 2.

Dying Light is worth a shot, it has some fantastic reviews and has been a really big underdog in the zombie survival genre.

Dying Light and The Last of Us if you're playing solo. For multiplayer it'd have to be DayZ. Not the standalone however, the mod which still frequently gets updated by members of the community.

Well, right now I'm typing this a few years later but I'd have to say the Last Of Us or 7 Days To Die are both great zombie survival games. I'd say that The Last Of Us is better because you actually get connected to the characters but 7 Days To Die is an actually zombie survival game.

Best Zombie game there ever was is Stubbs the Zombie. I'll never forget the boss fight with the tiny police chief which was a giant dance off.
I remember when me and my sister saw this in family video.

"From the Creators of Halo!" Was plastered on the cover.

It was such a good game, and had amazing co op. I remember controlling your ripped off hand like a remote control car.

Ok, there is Lef 4 Dead 2 which is still relevant and dying light, those are the best out there at the moment.

For me, it's still Left 4 Dead. I haven't played many of these zombie survival games, but L4D is by far the best one I've tried. And the co-op is so much fun, I've beaten the game with my friends so many times that I can not even count.

Since Dying Light has already been suggested multiple times, what about the State of Decay? I absolutely love that game. It has two DLC as well I think that add new quests and areas.

It doesn't have multiplayer or coop though. It has quests, side quests, activities, crafting system, leveling (sort of). You even build up your own bases and collect survivors around the world and then they help you. You can group up with the A.I. survivors and go collect resources - food, water, ammo for your base and so on. I am surprised that nobody mentioned it yet because it's a great game and deserves some attention in the zombie genre.

If you are lucky, you can snatch it on the Steam sales because they often put it on discounts so keep your eyes open!

Well, I'm not entirely sure what the best title is if you're including recent releases, as I haven't played many recent zombie games. However, I can personally say that my favorite zombie game so far has been Dead Rising 2. It was the one I had the most fun with. What other game let's you ride around a zombie infested mall on little girl's tricycle, while wearing cut off jeans, a knotted flannel shirt and a Blanca mask? If there is a better game, I don't want to know about it.

At the moment I would say Dying Light as it's quite unique in terms of gameplay for me. But if you own a PS4 then I suggest you wait for Days Gone. I think it's the best zombie game I've ever seen if I were to base it on the E3 gameplays. It feels like the World War Z movie, and I just love the physics of how the zombie tries to catch you and you'd have to evade the huge mob. I'm really sad that it's PS4 exclusive though, I only own a PC and this will be another game in the list of "games I can't play because I'm on PC".

Silent Hill and Resident Evil series was my favorite FPS games. I'm not good with FPS games but this game had me hooked up.

I think the best zombie survival game has to be Dead Space. I have played Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead. But it seems the dead space is simply unbeatable. And the amount of kills and the thrill of the game is more into the dead space. So if we consider that part then surely it can be fun to play that sort of game for sure.

Left 4 Dead 2 is still popular 7 years after its release. I think that says a lot to the replay value and the gameplay mechanics of the game, especially for a multiplayer standpoint. You can just play the same levels over and over and have a different experience because of the dynamic Director feature that changes the spawn points of health items, weapons, and even appearances of monsters and special creatures in the game.
