Cats vs Dogs

Growing up, we were only allowed to have dogs and never cats. My mother considered cats to be very filthy animals, so I grew up afraid of cats. After I left home, I adopted my first cat (he was an abandoned kitten at the time) and learned to love cats a lot. Cats are really amazing, very affectionate but also independent and not always needing attention. Though you can't take your cat for a walk, so you have to take very good care of the litter box. That's also a good thing as I don't have to go out into freezing weather anymore. For me, cats are the way to go. Though most of my friends say dogs are better.

I like both. I have had both cats and dog in my lifetime. The thing is, my fiance is allergic to cats so if I ever have another cat, it'll be outdoors. Here's the thing: we have a neighbor next door who has poisoned our cats before... one of them, he broke into our house and poisoned our indoor cat that I've had since I was 12... I wasn't here at the time, I was living in Idaho. Then after that, after I moved back, someone poisoned our outdoor cat who I've had since I was 6. She was perfectly healthy and then went missing for a couple of weeks and then someone broke into our garage and next thing we knew she was in our garage sink dying.. she was poisoned.. we believe it was our neighbor next door because he has done this sort of thing before but sadly there's no proof. We know it wasn't us because we didn't lock her in there because if we called for her and she was in there, she would meow back even if she was sleeping, she'd let us know at some point that she was there.. they placed her in there to make us think we locked her in there and that she accidentally died form no water or food.. but this cat is also a hunter and will hunt mice, insects, anything she can get her hands on and there was water in there from the sink dripping. She was a survival cat. She was poisoned because she was acting the same way our other cat did, same symptoms..

For now, I have 1 cat and 1 dog though.. dog is outdoors and as of right now we have been weaning the cat outdoors due to allergies getting worse (including mine) but it's scary to do.. and now our neighbor has been playing a high frequency noise to annoy them and hurt their ears.. I don't know what to do about since I have no proof except that my ears can hear that frequency since they're sensitive to that kind of stuff and the way the animals react when he does it

Really tough choice. I've had an array of pets, (we tended to adopt animals a lot). However, I'd have to say dogs, I've never met a dog that shrieks, hisses and tries to scratch me if it doesn't like me. Dogs just seem to be like "Meh, I'll get food, I'll put up with this human". They're also much, much more affectionate. If both was a viable option, it'd be both.

Dogs are truly attached to people, they are loyal and you can genuinely tell that they are happy when you are around.

On the other hand, cats seem pretty indifferent to your presence. Unless its time for lunch, then they'll start meowing "FEED ME HUMAN."

In my opinion? No contest, easy win for dogs.

I like both equally. Don't hate either, but I do know certain breed of dogs I'll never own. Dobies and Rotties. They seem to go rogue more often than not.

Dogs they are always happy to see you no matter what (unless you're an asshole and beat them)

Yeah dogs are not vicious by nature. People make them that way by abusing them or making them participate in dog fighting.

aww! That is terrible. Cats are really good people. I don't know why people hate cats so much. They stay to themselves, even when outdoors. My outdoor cats don't bother anyone and usually just roam backyards or hang out on the porch. So far, no one has said anything. They're male and have a territory. I'm not going to keep them inside as there is too much fighting when we do that. So they get to live free for now and hopefully no one does harm to them. Just recently, I lost John, my big orange cat and two of my cats, Butter and Cerval got injured. I don't know what happened to either. Cerval's paw is injured and he can't run anymore so he stays indoors and Butter (his brother from the same litter, both about 1 1/2 years old) got injured in some way (likely a fight with another cat). Both are recuperating indoors at the moment.

aww poor guys! I want more cats eventually but outdoors of course. I just wish my neighbor would be kicked out of his house! People can be so cruel to animals.. he's one of them. My kids love our cat, it's so cute, the other day my cat came inside and went up to my daughter to have her pet him for the first time. Usually he's a little unsure because she's 2 and hyper but he wanted her to pet him.. my son loves dogs, h'es a dog lover which I can tell already he's only 10 months but he loves our dog more than the cat

I have to say that dogs are better even if I have no previous experience of owning a cat or a dog. My only pets were two hamsters. I love kittens, until they grow up. I don't like full grown cats. I adore kittens, they are so cute..but i just feel like dogs would fit me better. I'm a dog person, but you know what?, a few months ago I learned about teacup kittens and fell madly in love with them.

I actually, seriously considered getting one. They are a bit expensive though. I would have to save a lot to get one. I think that they stay very small, so I would be very happy about that. If I can find a cat that stays a kitten, I would buy it. I just love kittens.

No question I'm definitely a dog lover. I've only had one cat in my life and she died four days later from some sort of disease we didn't know about. While I had a dog who was 20 when she died and my new dog is now seven years old.

I'm definitely a cat person. A dog bit my mom on the leg when I was younger and I had the biggest fear of them for the longest time, then about four years ago I met the cutest little dog! It changed my whole view on dogs. Not too long after that, I met my friend's dog and she is the sweetest thing. Although, I really love both of those dogs, I still lean towards cats. There's just something regal about them that I just can't explain.

I never got a cat so I'm biased towards dogs. They always want your attention and will always love you. Dogs are man's best friend for a reason.

I like cats better then dogs because they don't lick and hump you all over(at least that's what my neighbor's dog did) but I have to admit dogs are a lot more entertaining.

I love dogs, they are loyal, obedient, and truly like a best friend if you raise them right. Not to mention they can be trained and such.
ALL things that cats arent capable of. Maybe they provide a little laugh or two, but dogs are definitely the way to go!

I prefer dogs, they are much more involved in the family in my opinion whereas cats tend to want to take a backseat and not really be involved. I think a dog is a better pet because you can do more, like walking them.

I will fucking murder this person and drown them in lava in the pits of Hell.

I don't have a problem with any of them because all animals love me. I think its because I am a caring person :p

What the hell did your cats did anything. Even if the cats were a dick it doesn't deserve to die! *sighs* People are just... dumb.. no I can't; say dumb. That is a understatement. Get a restraining order on him.

if we had proof, I would, trust me!! He is a creeper and we've been calling the cops for years now adding crap up.. he sometimes even stalks people like he's done that to me when I've walked to the bus station to go to school and he'll follow and then make it look like he isn't when I look at him. Yeah they don;t, I don't know what he's doing. He owns a cat too, 3 actually.. and trains the cat to go into peoples yards and then walks into the yard without permission (including back yards) claiming he needs to get his cat. We think eh poisoned the other two cats in hopes that people would feed his cats for free because people liked our cats and gave them treats and stuff and pet them. Our newest cat, he's indoor/outdoor, indoor at nights outdoor in the day now and we trained our cat to sadly stay in our yard to stay away from him.. people are really messed up in the head. People here are going to dog parks and sticking nails in dog treats for dogs to find them and kill them.. and my friend had neighbors throw nails at her dog and her dog ate a few and died because of it and they tried again with her other dog but that dog was smarter I guess and didn't eat the stuff. And no our cats didn't do anything to our neighbor
