Bad buys

Have you ever bought a game and then realized that you do not want it at all? Or that the game sucks? This has happened me with this game for my Xbox. I can't remember the name right now, but it was a fantasy-magic game. The box looked great and it sounded awesome.

However, in reality the graphics sucked and it was very limited. Oh well :/

I got Breath of Death VII on Steam. The idea and the retro-style mechanics in the game are the things about the game I love, but it's hard to follow, etc. there are many reasons why I dislike the game I just can't list them all right now.

Hiocoie, do you play the game anymore or no? That's really a shame. Games need to be all around product. And when games are not easy to follow, and hard to play/learn to play that is just horrible! That sucks. Did it cost much or were you okay financially?

made a few bad buys back in the PS1 days, I really wish I had internet back then. I missed so many good games due to crap games.

I bought this one game (forgot the name) for like $10.. There was no demo but it looked good but when I played it was complete crap. Worse buy ever.

Um, could you describe it? Not to mention couldn't you just look in your Steam list and find out? :/

My worst purchase was definitely Star Fox Command. I love Star Fox and then they made that (horrible controls, Superman64-esk levels, Atari map aesthetics, etc). I was so very upset. :'(

So...I paid for more time on WoW a while ago to see if I wanted to play again. Anyways, I played once and then decided that no, I do not want to play. My obsession with the game must have fully ended as I have no interest in it whatsoever - that said, the money was poorly spent :/

I was pretty selective about my games as I didn't get too many when I was a kid, but I remember one of them being a pretty big mistake. The game which I regret buying the most was Enter the Matrix. I was a pretty huge Matrix fan growing up, and I thought it was one of the coolest sci-fi films I had ever seen or would ever see. Naturally, when Enter the Matrix came out I got tunnel vision and wanted it so badly.

It was awful. That's all I'm gonna say. There wasn't much that was good about it. I don't want to talk about this anymore.

Civ 6. Man, I was so hyped for that game I preordered that one. Waited at one in the morning here for the game to unlock, then played it a bit... I had to refund that crap an hour later. Good thing I got approved, too. Nearly wasted $50 for a crappy game with 1 hour of playtime. Rest of the players agree with my opinion as well. 80% approval rating on Steam when the earlier games, Civ 1-5, all have above 95% approval. They made a totally bust game and I'm glad there's a refund option on Steam.

Yes, plenty of disappointing games. I mean, sometimes it's hard to tell how good the games are just purely from the trailers or very short gameplay videos. If you buy games frequently then sooner or later you will make a ''bad buy''. It's just how it works.

The biggest disappointments for me were No Man Sky which I actually preordered - huge facepalm. And also the latest Mass Effect game the Mass Effect Andromeda. I loved the first two ME games... third was also decent but damn, what the hell is this new one? They couldn't even be bothered to do their facial expressions correctly... definitely wasted my money.

The games you mentioned were generally hated in forums I have visited. They were a huge letdown for the hype and price they had at the time of the release. Yikes. No Man's Sky was I think the worst offender since I've seen entire shelves of their games not selling in stores, and people were making fun of them for it. It's one thing to not deliver the hype, but to actually flop that hard was pretty hilarious and sad at the same time.

That's exactly how I felt when I bought Overwatch. Frankly, I've been quite disappointed with the game. So far it's felt like a rip off of TF2.

I felt so disappointed after buying Space Engineers. The trailers and gameplay videos are very enticing and to be honest it made me want to play the game so badly that I had to purchase it right away. I played for some time but I then realized that the game has a very complicated interface and difficult to understand building system. I thought that voxel games should be much more beginner friendly. I then proceeded to try and get a refund but the request was rejected since I spent more than 2 hours playing the game, which I did not notice. Now it's stuck on my Steam library and I never play it. The game just feels dead for me because there is not much any lifeform to see other than spiders and wolves on planets and other players too if you are online.

I think I might be one of the very few humans on earth to like that game. It wasn't a masterpiece, and it most likely didn't feel like a full-fledged Star Fox game, but it was a peculiar combination of genres. The multiple endings were interesting, though.
My worst buy has to be Billy the Wizard: Rocket Broomstick Racing. It was one of those discounted games you find in supermarkets, casually thrown in the sales basket. It was only a couple of bucks, but awful nonetheless.

This has happened a few times with me. The fake, and attractive advertising videos and pictures are the underlying reason. The videos are so well made that anyone can easily become fascinated by them. But the hard reality stands far away.

After having so many learning experiences in life, now I buy a game only after I have played it once or twice.
