I remember this little gem when I was a little kid. Back then everyone was playing the Atari 2600, luckily my rich uncle had both. He had a bunch of games for the Atari but only 2 for the commodore 64. Side by side comparison, the commodore had deeper much elaborate games. He had Jump Man and Load Runner. Both were great games.

Anyone else remembers the Commodore 64?

You got me on that one. I don't remember the commodore 64. I pretty much started my gaming with the original nintendo although I played with Atari, I didn't own one.

I haven't actually used the commodore 64 in my life, that's just too old for me, though I use a SID - chip synthesizer now and then to create awesome tunes and melodies. I'm surprised how much I can do with a SID synthesizer, since it's fairly old, though it actually sounds great.

I think I'm a little too young to remember this game system. I had a Nintendo 64 game when I was younger, or more that my best friends brother had one that we loved to use, but that's it.

HAHA the commodore 64 was not a "gaming console" haha, it was one of the first computers, and if you wanted to play a game you better know either how to program one yourself or know how to load it. You did not just put the disk in and turn on the power, you had to put the disk in and tell it to load the game. It made it much easier to hack games But OMG the best game we had was Spy hunter HAHAHA.

You don't know what you are talking about. I played 2 different games on the Commodore 64. Lode Runner and Jump Man. The weren't disc, they came in cartridges.

Notice your manual says "ATTENTION: SOFTWARE AUTHORS" :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64 yes the commodore 64 was a computer NOT a gaming console :) the cartriges may have existed, But not until the 3.5 floppy drives came out. I was using this computer when it still had the 7.5 disk and there was no 3.5 floppy invented yet :)

I remember this console. I don't think a lot of people own it to date. Not even pawn shops around are going to have it. Some may likely to have some games for that console. But that being said, there does not seem to be the case for any such good device nearby. i am sure in antique shops this must be very costly.

Technically, you both are right. The Commodore C64 actually came in multiple configurations IIRC. My friend had the PC version that had a cartridge slot in the back of the keyboard unit and another friend of mine had the "game system" version which had a cartridge slot built into the top of it. When I get home and off mobile I'll see if I can find images of both.

I heard about the Commodore 64 from my older cousins. I never had the chance to try this. I would love to see one someday.

I remember the name but I never played it. My cousins who were somewhat younger than I am had Atari games. As I mentioned on here before, the game I remember, which is even older than the Commodore 64 or Super Mario was Pong. It was the first electronic game that I know of.

It was sort of from my time (as a child) but I don't remember it at all. Anyway, considering Atari was so simple, how much more advanced could Commodore have been? Well, I know it couldn't have been 3D cause that didn't come about until Nintendo 64, I think.

I love that old box! It was my very first computer. I spent long hours as a very little pup playing Ghostbusters and Ghosts n Goblins. Likewise, we had Apacolypse, Wizards of Wor, some Egypt game where you run towards a pyramid, and PipeWorks. If you've never played that last one you owe it to yourself to boot up a copy and enjoy one of the great pre-Mario games. I love the music to this day.
