Who uses a laptop for gaming?

I have no money for a desktop but would change instantly if I could! Currently playing on a shitty laptop because I have no choice. I can play some games but having a gaming PC would be so much better. But I'm going to need a lot of time to adapt to an desktop because I have been playing on a laptop for years

I tried to use my laptop for gaming before, just because it is very mobile, but unfortunately I encountered lots of issues that I never encountered when I was gaming on PC. Some of the issues that I encountered when I used my laptop for gaming were; overheating problems, system failures, unexpected shutdowns, serious lagging when playing and I also started to have the famous "Black Screen of Death" lately; where a black screen, and nothing else appears, upon start-up. I have also heard, from one of my friends that used his laptop for gaming, that he fried his GPU ! That is why I stopped using my laptop for gaming, as it wasn't mainly made for gaming, and got back to using my PC as it is way safer. Gaming laptops on the other hand, have all the pros of a laptop with all the good advantages you would enjoy on PC when gaming! Ahhh, I wish I had a gaming laptop, but they are expensive.

I really prefer my laptop for gaming over my desktop. A lot of people tend to use the desktop in my house, so there are a lot of things on it that tend to slow the machine down. I have complete control of my laptop though, so I can install what I want on it. I can also maintain it properly, and make sure it's running smoothly. I use to play games on my desktop a long time ago, and they always ran slow or had a loading issue of some sort.

I don't use my laptop for gaming anymore. There was a time when I didn't have any option, but ever since I have gotten a beast gaming rig, I have not gone back to laptop gaming. It wouldn't be able to handle upcoming games like Dying Light, GTA V and more anyway. Besides, I can upgrade my gaming PC whenever I want.

I have a 360, so I play games on that and haven't tried with my laptop. I'd need to go out and buy a good controller, but I haven't bothered because I haven't found a game that I cannot play on the 360 that I want to play on a PC yet.

I actually have a friend that only games on laptop. I think it's mostly because he lives in a small apartment and doesn't really have room for a desk and desktop PC. He usually complains about it but I think he performs well enough under the circumstances.

I'd personally hate gaming on laptop however.

i often use my laptop for gaming, and it works out OK most of the time. buuut, since laptops are...laptops, there's little I can actually run without my laptop smoking, melting down, or both. so usually I'll just play LoL or CS:GO. I've also found platformers to be quite fun as well, having picked up Super Meat Boy from the Steam Sale. provided that I resist the urge to throw my laptop off my balcony, it's quite fun.

I used to play on laptops but they didn't even last a year and I only played 1 game, so I just bought a desktop. The problem with laptops is that they're not made for gaming (except a few brands like Alienware), so besides the low specs, it will eventually give up and the whole system will start working slow, at least that's what happens with the ones I've used.

We actually use both in our house. We have a nice laptop that my wife and the kids use and sometimes I have to help my kids leveling up and things like that so i am forced to use it. Then I have the gaming machine, the one NO ONE is allowed to eve n look at or breathe on. It is the Holy Grail of gaming in our house and only i have the access key to enter and utilize its massive power. HAHA we also have a bunch of consoles laying around to

Coming from a desktop player I wish I could have a laptop. The mobility seems nice and I would trade off a little performance for more mobility. Heck, I would even plug my laptop to my 24" to enjoy a normal game.

I use a laptop for all my gaming needs because I mainly play World of Warcraft. The game requires a really good computer to play, which I have. A four gigabyte RAM is needed to play and a good graphics card.

Anyway, that's why a laptop is my choice. Laptop computers are great.

I have a laptop which can run games, but it overheats a lot while playing games using the NVIDIA graphics card and loses battery quickly, so I usually play on my PC. I play a game called 'Pressure' on my laptop, though, and it runs fine on the Intel card and is not too graphically intensive.

To each their own, but I don't see the appeal of using a laptop for gaming. To get comparable specs of a gaming PC on a laptop costs nearly two or three times more. Also, if I'm in the mood for a hardcore gaming session I'd prefer to wait until I get home so I can play for hours. I wouldn't really use the portability aspect as I wouldn't want to game during a commute or at a cafe.

I have both desktop and laptop, but I prefer the desktop. I tried gaming with laptop for several days, and I didn't like it. The laptop would heat so much, it's uncomfortable.

I use my laptop, but I do have a gaming PC. Most of the time when I'm out, I just play games like Hearthstone on my laptop. When I'm at home, I use Steam In Home Streaming when I don't feel like sitting at a desk or table but still want 60fps good-quality gaming. My laptop is a MacBook Pro 13 inch, so I'm sure you'll understand why I don't game intensely with it. Frame-rates are terrible because of the old iGPU and the CPU isn't good enough to play modern shooters like Arma or Battlefield.

I used to use a laptop way back in the days because I didn't have a desktop yet. But once I switched over, I never really wanted to go back to a laptop because of the size difference. With a desktop and a monitor, you can see so much more than you can with a tiny laptop screen. Plus, like some people said, some laptops overheat quickly, since they're not really meant for gaming. The gaming laptops cost a fortune! They even go to like $2000 for one!

I made a huge mistake and sold my desktop and bought a gaming laptop, don't get me wrong I thought it was awesome to begin with though I did learn quite a lot after owning one for a short while, laptops use mobile processors which means compared to desktop machines you can't really compare them as the performance difference is really noticeable.

For example, a GTX 980m in a laptop is not equal to a GTX 980 in a desktop the mobile graphics card is more than likely equal to something like a GTX 760 or 770 so the set back in performance compared to a PC is fairly disappointing but then again the power requirement for desktop components are insane compared to mobile components.

I used to use a laptop for gaming, way back in the day, but it wasn't really meant for gaming so couldn't run any good games. I'd never buy a gaming laptop because they're so much more expensive than desktops! Plus they're hard to upgrade. The added portability isn't worth it.

I've used a laptop for gaming for quite some time now, though a long time ago I used an old dying desktop hahaha. As far as gaming is concerned, I don't really play anything graphically intensive on my laptop.
