The transition of the Halo Franchise from series creator Bungie LLC to Microsoft’s 343 industries takes another step forward this spring with the migration of all Bungie.net data. Since the announcement of Bungie’s departure from Microsoft they have been maintaining the matchmaking & filesharing servers that set up multiplayer matches and dispense screnshots. All of this is set to come to an end on March 31st, but don’t worry your data won’t be lost.

All of the data will be accessible via Halo Waypoint according to Bungies official website. They issued a small statement regarding the data migration which read in part:

“Last summer, Bungie and 343 Industries began a transition process for Halo data. On March 31st, 2012 that transition process will be complete, all live Halo data will be managed by 343 Industries, and Bungie will no longer be able to update game stats and player service records, to host new user generated content, or to operate the Bungie Pro service. All currently supported, Bungie-developed Halo titles will be impacted by this change.”

If there is any prolonged downtime or disruption due to the service move we will be sure to let you know.
